Weekend Homework - Public Speaking

Dear Parent,
With the aim to empower our children to become confident speakers through engaging and
interactive practices conducted at home, we are delighted to announce the Weekend Homework for our
students of Grades K1 & K2. Our focus is to encourage students to engage in Public Speaking activities
while incorporating essential skills to enhance their performance.

Learning Outcome for Children

• To develop students’ Public Speaking abilities and skills within their comfort zone.
• Boost their confidence in expressing themselves in their familiar environment.
• Reinforce their understanding and retention of concepts taught in the classroom.

Topics For Grade K1 To K2

About The Homework

• Fathers are very special because they are strong and brave. So, the child will speak
few lines on their father’s and make a card for him.
• As Yoga Day is around the corner so the child will speak about the benefits of yoga
and showcase few basic/easy yoga poses.

Topic 1 Father’s Day – Card Making

Activity – The students will speak few lines on their fathers and make a card for them.

• The students can share about the qualities of a good father.

• Why do they love their father?
• How they spend time with their father?
• What are the things they learn from their father?
• They will also show the card they have made for their father. • Parents should
record the video for a minimum of 2 minutes
• The video should have proper clarity.
• No prompting should be given by the parents while the student is presenting.

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I study in Grade K1 at Orchids, The International
School, South City 1. Today is a very special day because it's Father's Day. He is the best
father because he takes care of me, plays with me, and makes me laugh. I love to play
football with my dad on weekends. My dad is my hero and my best friend. Thank you, Dad,
for everything; I love you. “Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads”.
OR

Topic 2 Be A Yogi

Activity – The students will speak few lines on benefits and importance of yoga and
showcase few basic poses.

• The students can choose any three yoga poses and will speak about its benefits.
• Why yoga is important?
• The students will showcase basic yoga poses and record the video. • Parents
should record the video for a minimum of 2 minutes
• The video should have proper clarity.
• No prompting should be given by the parents while the student is presenting.

Guidelines for parents/ guardians

● The videos need to be original.

● No editing of the videos should be done.
● Video angles should be in the Vertical/ Portrait mode.
● A plain background is preferred while recording the video at home.
● No prompts are to be given by the parents/guardians, while the child is presenting.
● A minimum of 8-9 counter dialogues is mandatory, if it is a conversation.
● The child should talk for a minimum of 2 minutes.

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I study in Grade K1 at Orchids, The International
School, South City 1. 21st June is celebrated as International Yoga Day. Yoga is very
important as it removes stress. It helps to improve our attention and focus. Here are some few
poses which you can
do on a daily basis – I would like to choose mountain pose: it improves our posture or butterfly
pose: it make us flexible. You all can also try this at home. Thank you, have a nice day.

● For every homework a student submits, he/she will receive a Green coloured, ‘Well
Done! Badge on behalf of the department.
