 SO AND SUCH
• Kalian tentu pernah mendengan dan bahkan menemukan bagaimana ke
dua kata ini digunakan dalam kalimat baik verbal maupun non
verbal. Secara tata bahasa kata So dan Such masuk kedalam kelas
kata Adverb of degree. Yaitu adverb yang yang berfungsi memberikan
penekanan kualitas pada orang atau sesuatu.
• Jika kita fahami baik-baik, kedua kata ini mempunyai arti dan
penggunaan masing-masing yang berbeda, namun jika keduanya
digabungkan maka akan menghasilkan makna yang berbeda pula.
So ditempatkan setelah adjective (kata sifat), adverb (kata keterangan),
atau noun phrase yang diawali dengan determiner many, much, few,
dan little.
 SO THAT
• So that dan in order that sama-sama digunakan untuk menunjukkan tujuan dari sesuatu
(to show the purpose of something).
• Kita sering menggunakan modal auxiliary verb (can, may, would, etc) bersama dua frasa
bahasa Inggris ini. Kita dapat menggunakan simple present atau simple future
“will” setelah so that dan simple present setelah in order that ketika mengarah pada
masa depan.
• That yang mengikuti so sering dihilangkan pada situasi informal. Kata yang
merupakan conjunction (kata hubung) ini lebih umum digunakan (more common)
daripada in order that. Adapun in order that yang merupakan idiom yang berarti “so
that something can happen” (agar sesuatu dapat terjadi) lebih formal (more formal)
daripada so that.
• Selain untuk menunjukkan tujuan dari sesuatu, so that juga dapat digunakan untuk
menunjukkan akibat dari sesuatu (to show the result of something).
 IN ORDER TO
• In order to adalah subordinate conjunction yang diikuti bare infinitive.
Keduanya berada di dalam suatu subordinate clause yang berfungsi untuk
mengungkapkan tujuan dari sesuatu di dalam main clause. Kata hubung
ini bermakna “with the purpose of (doing or achieving something)”
(dengan tujuan untuk (melakukan atau memperoleh sesuatu)) dan lebih
umum digunakan di writing daripada speaking. In order to memiliki
bentuk negatif, yaitu: in order not to.

• A: Hey what's wrong with you? You look very pale!
• B: Really? I don't even realize.
• A: Do you feel headache or maybe ill?
• B: Honestly, I feel a little bit headache.
• A: If you think so, just go to sleep.
• B: Why do I must?
• A: Sleep can increase your stamina in order to reduce your ache
• B: Okay. Thanks for your advice.
• A: Sure.

• B: hey, A! what's up?

• B: what news?
• A: Our class mate, X, will represent our country to compete in International Chemistry Olympiad.
• B: Are you serious? Wow, That’s so cool!
• A: He is such a smart student that he can be our country’s representative. I heard that he has been being trained by excellent
chemistry teachers from Jakarta.
• B: No wonder, He is so busy that he always goes home early now.
• A: Yeah, it's because his training starts right after school. By the way, let's congratulate him.

• I will do my best in order to teach you English.
• He got up early in order to catch the plane.
• In order to be rich, you must use your mind.

• In order to play the game, we must have two computers.
• We will save money in order to buy a new house.
