SIZE: One Size - to fit 7”-7.5” (18 cm-19 cm) hand circumference.

YARN: Bulky (Chunky) Weight. Approximately 120 yds (110 m).


Pictured in Deramores Vintage Chunky, 50% Merino Wool, 50% Acrylic, 153 yds (140 m) / 100 gr.
Colour: Chalk.

NEEDLES: US 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles or circulars with 32” (80 cm) cable (if using magic
loop method).
US 8 (5 mm) double pointed needles or circulars with 32” (80 cm) cable (if using magic loop
method).

GAUGE: 15 sts x 22 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette on larger size needles.

NOTIONS: cable needle (optional, if you prefer working cables with a cable needle), tapestry
needle, stitch marker (optional, to mark the beginning of round), scrap yarn.

ABBREVIATIONS & STITCH GUIDE


CO – Cast on
BO – Bind off
sts - stitches
K – knit
P – purl
M1R – Make one right: Insert left needle from back to front under the strand of yarn which runs
between the stitch just worked and the next stitch on left hand needle. Lift the strand up and knit
through the front loop
M1L – Make one left: Insert left hand needle from front to back under the strand of yarn which
runs between the stitch just worked and the next stitch on left hand needle. Lift the strand up and
knit through back loop
C2B – slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold at the back of work, K1, then K1 from the cable
needle
C2F – slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold at the front of work, K1, then K1 from the cable
needle

C4B – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at the back of work, K2, then K2 from the cable
needle
C4F – slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at the front of work, K2, then K2 from the cable
needle
SSK – slip, slip, knit: slip next 2 sts one by one knitwise, return them to left hand needle, then knit
them together through the back of the loops
K2tog – knit 2 sts together
Rep – repeat
Rnd / Rnds – round / rounds

PATTERN BEGINS
Using US 6 (4 mm) needles and the long tail cast on, CO 32 sts.
Join to begin working in the round making sure not to twist the stitches.

RIBBING
Rnd 1: *K1. P. Rep from * to end.
Rep Rnd 1 for 13 more times.

SET UP ROUND
Change to US 8 (5 mm) needles.

THUMB OPENING
Rnd 17 (Left Hand): K9. Put next 6 sts on scrap yarn. Using backwards loop cast on add 6 sts on
the right needle. Continue in Rnd 1 pattern.
Rnd 17 (Right Hand): K3. Put next 6 sts on scrap yarn. Using backwards loop cast on add 6 sts on
the right needle. Continue in Rnd 1 pattern.
Rnd 18: Rep Rnd 2.
Rnd 19: Rep Rnd 3.
Rnd 20: Rep Rnd 4.
Rep Rnd 1 – Rnd 4 another 4 times.

CHART 1

THUMB
Using US 6 (4 mm) needles join the yarn and pick up the 6 sts from the scrap yarn, 1 stitch
between the last stitch from the scarp yarn and first stitch from the cast on stitches. Continue by
picking up the 6 CO stitches and 1 stitch between last CO stitch and the first stitch that was on
scrap yarn. (14 sts).
K in the round for 15 rounds.

THUMB DECREASE
Rnd 1: K2tog to the end of rnd.
Rnd 2: K2tog to the last st. K1.
BO the tip by drawing the tapestry needle through the remaining stitches and fastening them,
weaving in the end on the inside of the thumb.

FINISHING
Weave in the ends and enjoy!
