Senior Solar Sprint (SSS)
Senior Solar Sprint (SSS) is a Solar Sprint competition for TSA high school students
in grades 9-12. High school students apply scientific understanding, creativity,

Junior Solar Sprint (JSS)
Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) is a Solar Sprint competition administered by the Technology
Student Association (TSA) through a grant awarded by the Army Educational Outreach
Program (AEOP). The competition offers resources that empower teachers, mentors, and
other community members to engage middle school students in designing, building,
and racing model solar cars. Students develop teamwork and problem-solving abilities,
investigate environmental issues, and gain hands-on STEM skills as they construct the
fastest, most interesting, and best crafted vehicle possible.

an official TSA competition.

If you are a TSA middle school or high school chapter advisor at a Title 1 school, or
an elementary school teacher interested in bringing JSS Jumpstart to fifth and
sixth graders, your school may be able to receive up to two free solar car kits.
Each kit meets the minimum specifications for JSS and contains a solar panel,
electric motor, and a pair of small alligator clips for easy hookup.

Please contact Sue King at sking@tsaweb.org for questions.
