LTEV2 5G CABLE KIT INSTALLATION MANUAL
Introduction

Introduction
The LTE v2 5G Cable Kit provides parts and instructions to upgrade the LTE v2 cabinet for
installation of up to 2, 6630 or P614 radio chassis in the field. If the cabinet contains a 6601
chassis, it can be removed and replaced with a 6630 or P614 chassis. Power cables, ground
cables, and circuit breakers are provided for the 6630 or P614 units.

Important Note! The number and arrangement of the 6630 or P614 chassis to be
installed can vary, depending on whether the rack space in the cabinet contains an
existing 6601 chassis, customer-installed equipment, or has unused rack space.

{{ To prepare for installation
1 Turn off the power to the cabinet and equipment per the applicable AT&T method of
procedure (MOP).
2 Determine the 6630 or P614 chassis quantity and locations to be installed.
3 If there is unused rack space where a chassis will be installed, loosen the 2 thumb screws
and remove the baffle plate.
Note Remove only the baffle plates required to accommodate new equipment. All locations
without equipment should have a baffle installed to ensure proper thermal performance.
Unused baffle plates can be discarded.

{{ To remove an existing 6601 chassis

1 Unplug (and mark as necessary) all the cables from the 6601 chassis to be replaced.
2 Remove and discard the mounting screws attaching the 6601 chassis to the rack rails.
3 Pull the 6601 chassis forward to gain access to the rear of the chassis.
4 Remove the ground cable from the 6601 chassis and the master ground bar (MGB) and
discard. Retain the MGB hardware.

{{ To install the LTEv2 5G cable kit

1 Install 1 or more 6630 or P614 chassis into the chosen rack spaces. Secure each chassis
with (4) 12-24 thread forming screws provided in the kit. Torque to 25 in-lb.
Note Installation can require adjusting the rack ear position on the 6630 or P614 chassis
to insure both depth clearance in the rear and cable clearance in front of the unit when
the door is closed. (Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for further details.)
2 Apply oxide inhibitor to the ground cable lugs.
3 Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for attaching the ground cable to the 6630 or
P614.
4 Route the ground cable down the left side of the cabinet and to the left side of the master
ground bar (MGB).
5 Attach the ground cable to 1 of the 2 positions, as shown below, with the retained hardware.
Torque to 40 in-lb. Secure the ground cable with cable ties as needed.

6 Locate the unplugged 6601 power cable in the lower right area of the cabinet. Remove the
connector from the end of the cable.

7 Strip 1/2 in. of insulation from the red wire on the 6601 power cable.
8 Insert the red wire into the step-down splice connector attached to the red wire on the end
of the 6630 or P614 power splice cable provided in the kit. Crimp with a Molex 64001-7400
hand crimp tool or equivalent.
9 Strip 1/2 in. of insulation from the black wire on the 6601 power cable. Insert the black wire
into the step-down splice connector attached to the black wire on the end of the 6630 or
P614.

10 Route the 6630 or P614 power splice cable across the front, bottom of the cabinet and up
the left side to the 6630/P614 power input connector.
11 Connect the power splice cable to the 6630 or P614 unit. Secure the power splice cable
with cable ties as needed.
12 Reconnect other cables to the 6630 or P614 as needed per the AT&T MOP.
13 Repeat this process if a second 6630 or P614 is to be installed.
14 Locate the circuit breaker powering the newly installed 6630 or P614 chassis.
Note The black wire on each RBS power cable is marked with the circuit breaker position.
(For example, RBS1 is powered by circuit breaker #1.)
15 Remove and retain the 4 T-10 torx screws securing the circuit breaker mounting plate in the
DC distribution assembly.

16 Carefully pull the circuit breaker mounting plate out just enough to gain access to the rear
of the breakers.
17 Identify the circuit breaker brand in the DC distribution assembly, as shown below.
Note The circuit breaker might be a Sensata/Airpax or Carling. The new 15A breaker must
be the same brand as the existing breakers. The identification label is often on the bottom
side of the breaker. Select 1 or more 15A breakers of the same brand from the kit.

18 Remove and retain the 2 T-15 Torx screws securing the existing breaker to be removed.
Mark the wires attached to the breaker if necessary.
19 Disconnect the line, load, and alarm connections on the rear of the breaker. Remove the
circuit breaker from the mounting plate.
20 Install the 15A circuit breaker from the kit with the 2 retained T-15 Torx screws. Torque to
6 in-lb.
21 Mount the circuit breaker in the same position and orientation as the original breaker. The
breaker handle must point to the left when the breaker is turned off.
22 Reconnect the line, load, and alarm wires as shown below.
