The DDZ elevator is a wellhead tool for oil and gas drilling. During
tripping operation, it can be used for suspending taper drill pipe conveniently
and reliably, especially suitable for prolong the service life of BOP self-head,
meeting the drilling requirement. Our company's DDZ elevator is suitable for
23/8~65/8 drill pipe with rated loads of 7 load grades ranging from 100t to 750t
(See Table 2). Unless supplementary requirements are available otherwise, the
design and the lowest operating temperature of the elevator is -20℃. The
product is designed and manufactured as per the API Spec 8C and GB/T19190.

1.2 Main structure

All key parts of DDZ Elevator are made in high strength alloy steel, which
ensures the safety and reliability of the elevator. It mainly consists of left flip,
right flip, plunger latch, safety handle bar, shutter pin and spring. The outer rim
rectangle arm of left flip, right flip can be used for hanging the elevator, the
plunger latch is used for fasten the right and left flips and the safety handlebar is
used for ensuring the no opening of the latch during tripping.

of ring blocks on both sides of elevator shall be removed. The upper
cotter pins, nuts and screws are to be reinstated after the ring has been
mounted.
(3) The elevator balance belt is used for adjusting the inclination of the
elevator. When the elevator is opened, it can prevent the elevator
from inclining. The elevator closes during lifting.

3.2 Operation
(1) Seize the locking lever and push it outward to open the shutter, during
which the latch and locking lever can be opened automatically to keep the
elevator at the proper location on string.

3

(2) When the elevator clamps the string, the latch will lock automatically.
(3) The latch spring is used for locking the elevator under normal situation.
(4) The locking elver is used for ensuring that the latch is being kept locked
under normal load.
(5) The locking handle pin should be confirmed at the correct position and the
handle will not open and the latch keeps at locked state.

3.3 Caution
(1) The DDZ elevator is applicable to single elevator (one elevator) tripping
operation instead of dual elevator operation.
(2) The elevator shall not exceed its rated load during operation unless special
material is applied, or the lowest operating temperature shall not be lower than
-20℃.
(3) When using the elevator, the application of string with correct size shall
be guaranteed.
(4) Falling object preventative inspection shall be performed before tripping.
a) To check if the nuts connecting part are firmly tightened, the locking nut
is loosening or not or cotter for slotted nut is completely slotted.
b) To check the plunger latch and safety handle bar to see if they are
flexible, whether the locking function is reliable and spring is with an
appropriate torsion.
(5) The main right and left flips and plunger latch with cracks or deformation
shall not be used. Safety handle bar shall also not be used given that it fails to
clamp the pin properly.
(6) Every time before tripping, shutter pin and other mechanism shall be
checked to ensure the normal states, and inspect whether it has been severely
worn out or degraded through appearance check. The shutter pin surface and
ring contact face shall be greased.
(7) Besides inspection and measurement of DDZ elevator conical holes; hotels,
the tool joint associated shall be measured. If they are unevenly worn out or
dimple exceeds 1.5mm, it shall be repaired accordingly.
(8)As the design standard GB/T 19190 and API Spec 8C, the normal working
temperature of the elevator should be not less than -20℃. If the working
temperature is below -20℃, it must be noted in the contract and executed in
accordance with API Spec 8C Appendix A Low Temperature Supplementary
Requirements.
