THANKSGIVING FOR THE ZAMBIA MISSION

7/12/2021

Dear Friends,
Thank you for joining me in the medical mission trip to Zambia through your prayers and
financial support! Rejoice with me over what the Lord has done.

Psalm 116:12 “What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits for me?”
1. We thank God for a successful short-term medical mission trip to Zambia.
2. We thank God for protection, provision, and guidance throughout the trip.
3. We thank God for all our supporters and sponsors for making this a reality.
4. We are grateful to God for people we met and relationships that were built.
5. We are grateful for souls that were won for Christ.

Hebrew 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and
good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging
one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

I really thank God for successful meetings with the students, especially with the ladies who
are in their first year of studies in the school of nursing UTH.

Romans 10:13-14 “’Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then,
can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of
whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

I prayed a brief prayer of faith, asking God

to lead me to someone with whom I could
share the gospel. In front of me was
a young lady, Nkole, a first-year nursing student.
After a greeting and introduction to each other,
I asked permission to share the good news
of Christ Jesus. I shared my personal testimony
of how I met Jesus Christ and together we
went through the bridge illustration.

She told me how she also comes from a Christian family, but we realized how far she is from
God now. This was her day for salvation; she repented of her sins and received forgiveness.
She gave her life to Jesus Christ. To God alone be the glory.

Matthew 9:35-38
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the
good news of the kingdom and healing every
disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds,
he had compassion on them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a
shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The
harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,
to send out workers into his harvest field.”

I was assigned to internal medicine for four weeks for elective classes and as a volunteer in
the department. Each day we went through the wards to examine patients and learn from
senior doctors. It gave us an opportunity to pray and share the gospel with patients, medical
students, and health care personnel.

Martin is one of the patients we met at the teaching hospital; he was admitted into one of the
male wards. It was nice talking to him as he shared his life story with us. He knew Christ was
the Almighty God and that He was kind and loving and died for our sins on the cross. But
Martin never understood what it meant to be a follower of Christ. Together we helped him
understand the word of God and the true meaning of being a disciple of Jesus Christ, and we
prayed with him. To God alone be the glory.

We were delighted to partner with the Zambian Navigator ministry. The staff showed
hospitality, kindness, and love toward us. We learned from them and were encouraged by
what God is doing among the people of Zambia.

Our host family, the Musipa family, showed us a heart of love. We became a family as we
lived together.

Prayer Requests – Please pray…

1. For the gospel of Christ to continue to spread in Zambia through laborers filled with
love and compassion.
2. For faithful laborers who will commit themselves to serve in Zambia.
3. For ministry among students, that many students will be rooted in the true teachings of
Jesus Christ.
4. For Christian medical personnel and students to represent Christ in their daily lives.
5. For the election in August and the Covid situation in Zambia. Our team had to leave
the country earlier than expected because of increasing Covid cases.

Lessons I learned from this mission trip:

1. The harvest is indeed big but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37).
2. We are called to obey the voice of God and take the bold step of faith to reach out to
the lost.
3. God loves the world and wants everyone to be saved.
4. A heart of love and compassion is in need in the mission field.
5. God will always provide for His work.
6. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17).

Thank you for your prayers and

support! I thank the Lord for you!

In Christ,
Ruth Mbulula
