SECTION 6 – 7 : 1 HYDRAULIC ROTARY ATTACHMENT
6.1 MOUNTING
To replace the Drive Sampling Mast Assembly PST/2010/F200 with the 7:1
Rotary Attachment PST/2250/F101 ensure that the Mast Assembly is in the
vertical drilling position on solid ground then turn off the engine. Disconnect the
four hydraulic hose quick connects on the rig body . Remove the 2 locking pins
at the base of the mast ( Item 6 Drg PST2000/F/200 ). Start engine and reverse
track undercarriage to separate mast assembly from main rig body. Drive track
undercarriage into position to locate Pivot Frame Assembly in base of Rotary
Attachment and replace locking pins. Turn off engine and then attach hydraulic
hoses to the quick connects on the rig body.
Before attempting to track the machine please ensure that Mast Parking Support
(Item 10 Drg PST2250/F/2/01) is in position and all locking pins are in place.
Ensure Hydraulic Flow Control Valve is fully open (Item 26 Drg TAV.11-
96614710) and PTO Valve in ‘On’ position ( Item 33 Drg TAV.11 – 96614710).
To set the rig up ready for drilling, slot the two front legs into the base of the mast
& secure with the locking pins( Item 2 Drg PST2000/F/2/00).
Remove the mast locking pin ( Item 8 Drg PST2000/F/2/00 )and Mast Parking
Support (Item 10 Drg PST2250/F/2/01) raise the mast (Control Lever E) until
base of mast is supported by its weight, then remove the pivot frame slide locking
pins ( Item 10 Drg PST2000/F/2/00). Now adjust alignment to vertical position
using mast raising lever.
Level the machine by adjusting the front leg screws (when drilling over soft
ground please ensure that the leg screws are supported).
-101-
Raise the carriage to the top of its travel by pulling the mast cylinder control lever
(Control Lever F) on valve situated on left side of the superstructure.
Attach appropriate drive adaptor to the swivel housing (BW Rod Pin or 1.1/8” /
1.5/8” Hex Pin subject to drilling method) and fit selected drilling tools.
For drilling method requiring air or fluid circulation attach appropriate supply hose
to the ball valve located on side of the swivel housing – control tap in closed
position.
Ensuring that the area is clear you can start to drill. Open swivel control tap if
fluid/air circulation required. To rotate the drilling tools pull on the weight control
lever G ( valve on left side of superstructure). Speed of rotation can be
increased/decreased by adjusting engine throttle control lever C. Lower the tools
until in contact with the ground by pushing forward the mast cylinder control lever
F. Feed is controlled by the mast cylinder control which can be pushed forward
to apply weight to the cutting tool or pulled back to hold back the weight of the
drill string if penetrating too fast.
When pushing the mast cylinder control forward the effect will be to lift the mast
assembly off the ground thereby applying the full weight of the rig on to the
drilling tools - penetration rate can be monitored by watching the inner pivot
frame slide down inside its housing (Item 8 Drg PST2000/F/2/00).
Continue until rotary head reaches the bottom of its travel on the mast , stop
rotation by moving control lever G to neutral position then add or remove drill
rods/ augers as required by using mast cylinder control lever F.
When adding or removing drilling tools from the borehole be sure they are
supported at all times by the appropriate holding forks to prevent drilling tools
falling down the borehole.
