Activity 2 - Salt in our Diets

According to the World Health Organization (2020), the recommended quantity of salt

that we should consume each day is below 5 grams, which is equivalent to 1 teaspoon. Ensuring

strict compliance with this recommendation is vital in order to prevent the development of high

blood pressure, heart diseases, and strokes. Nevertheless, many people take more than that

because of palatable processed foods and restaurant foods that contain high levels of salts; thus,

it may take a lot of work to put a check on such products. Good examples include public health

campaigns, food labeling, and modifying food products with less salt, and these interventions

have shown some success in lowering the population's salt intake.
