1 Slow air pressure build up rate


1. transmission neutral, brakes are applied, wheels are chocked, truck safe and secure

3. release both breaks, check pressure for 100psi again, turn off the engine, turn on ignition, put
glass down, press peddle break, listen to air leak for 10-15 sec from outside

5. now check the air loss rate
6. press the peddle break for 1min the limit to air loss is 4psi
7. apply both breaks
8. read major minor

3 Pushrod stroke of any brake exceeds adjustment limit


1. Start the truck, bring air pressure to 100 psi
2. Release both tractor and trailer brakes, Check pressure again for 100psi
3. Turn the steering wheel, turn the truck off, get out of the truck, make a mark on the pushrod
4. Put the holding device onto the foot brake
5. Measure the pushrod stroke
6. State this vehicle has a standard brake chamber size of 24 and the pushrod stroke is less than 45
mm it’s good
7. Read major/minor

4 inoperative towing vehicle, tractor protection valve


1. Start the truck and bring the air pressure to above 100psi,
2. get out of the truck and remove the service (blue) line,
3. come back into the truck and release the tractor (yellow) brake,
4. press the pedal brake and let the examiner know the pressure,
5. listen to audible air leak for 10 sec from outside of the truck,
6. state I do not hear any leakage, its good,
7. remove your pedal brake and apply the tractor (yellow) brake
8. get out of the truck and connect the service (blue) line again
9. come back in the truck and read major/minor
10. no minor defects
11. inoperative towing vehicle (tractor) protection valve is a major defect write in logbook, call the
operator, the vehicle is not safe to drive

5 low air warning system fails or system is activated


1. Start the truck and once the pressure is above 100 psi start brake pedalling,
2. bring the pressure to 55 psi, on 55 psi your alarm will be activated, let the examiner know it is
working on 55 psi, read major/minor

6 occupant compartment door fails to open


1. Door is in good condition, door has no cracks, no damage,
2. Door handle is present, opens properly, there is no free play on the door,
3. hinges are present, fasteners are tight and secure,
4. both door seals have no cuts, no damage,
5. sit inside and close the door, the door close properly,
6. hit the door with your shoulder, it locks properly,
7. open from inside, door opens properly from inside.
8. Read major/miner
9. Occupant compartment door fails to open is a minor defect write in the logbook, call the
operator, vehicle is safe to drive.
10. Any cab or sleeper door fails to close securely is a major defect write in the logbook call the
operator, vehicle is not safe to drive

7 coupler or mounting has loose or missing fastener


1. Engine off, transmission neutral, brakes are applied, wheels are chocked, truck safe and secure
2. All coupler fastener present tight and secure,
3. All the 5th wheel fasteners are tight and secure, no loose, no missing
4. All the mounting fasteners are tight and secure, no loose, no missing
5. All safety fasteners are present, tight, and secure
6. Read major/minor

8 coupler is insecure or movement exceeds prescribed limit


1. Fifth wheel liver fully in and logged, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupler plate, safety
pin present
2. go under the trailer, jaw is fully logged, in good condition no crack no damage, no gap between
5th wheel and upper coupling plate
3. go to the other side, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupler plate, safety pin present
4. now do one hug (Back) test, go inside ignition on engine start, both pressure above 100psi,
release tractor (yellow) break, apply trailer (red) break put in reverse mode press accelerator,
immediately apply tractor (yellow) break, put in neutral, go out side and check,
5. 5th wheel liver fully in and logged, jaw fully logged, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupling
plate, now mark the position of the safety pin on the upper coupling plate
6. do one tug (forward) test, go inside, both pressure above 100psi, release tractor (yellow) break,
apply trailer (red) break, put in drive mode, press accelerator, immediately apply tractor (yellow)
break, put in neutral, go out side and check
7. 5th wheel liver fully in and logged, jaw fully logged, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupling
plate, now mark the position of the safety pin on the upper coupling plate
8. the difference between the two marks must not exceed 13mm or ½ in

9 coupling or locking mechanism is damaged or fails to lock


1. Transmission neutral break applied wheel chocked truck safe and secure
2. 5th wheel liver fully in and logged, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupling plate, safety pin
present
3. Under the truck, jaw is fully locked, jaw in good condition, no crack, no damage
4. other side, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupling plate, safety pin present
5. go inside and do 2 tug (forward) tests, ignition on, engine start, both pressure above 100psi,
release the tractor (yellow) brake, apply trailer (red) break, put in drive mode, press accelerator,
immediately apply tractor break, do not use foot break, put in neutral, come out and check
6. 5th lever is full in and locked, no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupling plate, safety pin
present
7. go under the truck, check that the jaw is locked,
8. other side, there is no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupler plate, safety pin present
9. Read major miner

11 exhaust system leaks


1. Engine off, transmission neutral, brakes are applied, wheels are chocked, truck safe and secure
2. Start the truck, put in defrost mode, heat full, both door windows up
3. Turbo got no crack, no damage, turbo assembly got no crack, no damage
4. Exhaust pipe got no crack, no damage, all clamps are tight and secure, no loose, no missing, I can
not smell any exhaust leak, or burning smell
5. under the cab flex pipe got no crack, no damage, all clamps are tight and secure, no loose, no
missing, I can’t smell any exhaust leak, or burning smell
6. exhaust pipe behind the cab got no crack no damage all clamps tight and secure, no loose, no
missing, I can’t smell any exhaust leak, or burning smell
7. The heat shield is present, got no crack no damage all clamps tight and secure, I can’t smell any
exhaust leak, or burning smell
8. Stand in good condition no crack no damage all fasten present tight and secure
9. Go inside smell any exhaust 10to15sec no exhaust leak

12 Damaged frame or cargo body


1. Engine off, transmission neutral, brakes are applied, wheels are chocked, truck safe and secure
2. Open the hood and go to main cross member… there is no crack, no damage, no sagging, no
shifting, no collapsing, all fasteners are present, tight, and secure, no loose, no missing
3. Main frame in good condition, no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
4. Frame under the cabin in good condition no crack no damage no sagging no shifting no
collapsing all frame fastener present tight and secure
5. Go behind the cab… 2nd cross member got no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no
collapsing… repeat for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th cross members.
6. Trailer front wall, no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing all the rivets are
present, tight, and secure.
7. Trailer front wall frame, no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
8. Upper coupler plate has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting no collapsing
9. Trailer side wall has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing all the rivets are
present, tight, and secure.
10. Trailer side wall frame, has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
11. Go underneath the trailer, the main frame member has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no
shifting, no collapsing.
12. Landing gear has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
13. Landing gear frame has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
14. All cross member underneath the trailer has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no
collapsing
15. Buggy frame has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing, buggy pins are

16. Go behind the trailer… doors have no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing
17. All the door rods are present, no crack, no damage,
18. Trailer doors are securely mounted to trailer body with the help of hinges, hinges are present,
tight, and secure with fasteners
19. Door handles are present, tight, and secure with fasteners
20. Bomber guard has no crack, no damage, no sagging, no shifting, no collapsing

13 fuel system, missing fuel tank cap, insecure fuel tank, dripping, fuel
leak
1. Fuel tank cap present, in good condition, no crack no damage
2. cap easily open, inside of the cap in good condition, no crack no damage, cap seal in good
condition, no cut no damage, cap close properly
3. Fuel tank in good condition no crack no damage no holes
4. Both straps bracket in good condition, no crack no damage, properly attached to tractor frame
with the help of fastener, fastener present tight and secure
5. no leaking around fuel tank, no leaking under the hood

14 Glass and mirrors


1. transmission neutral, brakes are applied, wheels are chocked, truck safe and secure
2. hood mirrors, in good condition, no crack no damage, properly connected to the hood with
fasteners, its clean, and provides a clear rear view
3. windshield is in good condition, has no crack no damage, properly attached to tractor body with
the help of rubber, rubber has no cut no damage
4. both sides back view mirrors are in good condition have no crack, no damage, properly
connected to tractor body with fasteners, its clean, set according to my need
5. both sides window glasses have no crack, no damage, it goes down properly, it goes up properly
6. my side mirror has no crack no damage, its clean, set according to my need
7. back side window in good condition, has no crack, no damage, properly mounted to tractor body
with the help of rubber, rubber has no cut no damage

16 air leaks in suspension system


1. Transmission neutral break applied wheel chocked truck safe and secure
2. Both air bags fully inflated in good condition no cut no damage no patched no brose, no cracked
to braid
3. Both air bags are securely mounted to tractor body with fasteners, all fasteners are present,
tight, and secure
4. Upper fastener present tight and secure
5. Bottom fastener present tight and secure
6. No audible no feelable air leak
7. The suspension system is in good condition

17 broken spring leaf


1. Transmission neutral break applied wheel chocked truck safe and secure
2. Bothe spring leaf in good condition no crack no damage no sagging no shifting no collapsing
3. Spring leaf properly connected to tractor frame with fasteners, fastener present tight and secure
4. Mounting in good condition no crack no damage. All mounting fastener present tight and secure
5. Shock absorber in good condition no crack no damage no leak around shocker, Shocker upper
fastener present tight and secure, Shocker bottom fastener present tight and secure
6. Bothe U bolts in good condition no crack no damage properly attached to spring leaf, all U bolts
fastener present tight and secure
7. Under the cab spring leaf in good condition no crack no damage no sagging no shifting no
collapsing, spring leaf fastener present tight and secure
8. Under the cab mounting in good condition no crack no damage, mounting fastener present tight
and secure
9. spring leaf not touching any other part of tractor body
10. Upper spring leaf is the main spring leaf

18 suspension fastener is loose missing, or broken / loose U-bolt


1. Transmission neutral break applied wheel chocked truck safe and secure
2. Main fastener present tight and secure
3. All mounting fastener tight and secure
4. U bolt in good condition no crack no damage properly attached to both spring leaf with help of
fastener, all fastener present tight and secure
5. Under the cap main fastener present tight and secure
6. Under the cap mounting fastener present tight and secure

19 Tire leaking / flat tire


1. Transmission neutral break applied wheel chocked truck safe and secure
2. The pressure is normal
3. Outer side wall of the tire in good condition no cut no damage no audible no feelable air leak
4. Tread side of the tire in good condition no cut no damage no audible no feelable air leak
5. Tire properly seal with rim no audible no feelable air leak
6. Valve is in good condition no crack no damage no audible no feelable air leak
7. In between the tire no audible no feelable air leak
8. Inside tire in good condition no audible no feelable air leak
9. The tire is not flat
10. No exposed cored
11. Tire not touching any other body part except mud flap

20 Damaged tread or sidewall of tire

23 Damaged cracked or broken wheel

2. Wheel is in good condition no crack no damage, wheel fastener is present tight and secure

4. In between both rims in good condition no crack no damage nothing is stuck in between
5. Inside wheel in good condition no crack no damage
6. wheel fastener and all attaching parts present tight and secure
7. No sign of imminent wheel hub or bearing failure

In cab inspection
1. Transmission neutral, break applied, wheel chocked, truck safe and secure
2. Ignition on … All waring signs on
3. Truck starts… All sign gone only three left, park break, seat belt, and check engine which is miner
defect, truck safe to drive
4. All gages working properly both pressure gage working properly pressure above 100psi
5. RPM working properly… RPM between 600-900rpm
6. Left signal working visually, Right signal working visually, four-way flash working visually
7. Steering in good condition no cut no damage no free play going left and lock, going right and
lock
8. City horn working properly, high way horn I can show at the highway
9. Heat full, defrost fan, Level one, tow, three, and four working properly, I can adjust according to
weather
10. Wind shield in good condition properly attached to tractor body no crack no damage giving me
clear view
11. Both wiper blade has no cut no damage level 1,2,3, working properly, I have enough washing
fluid for my trip
12. Both windows glasses are in good condition no crack no damage properly attached to tractor
body and giving me a clear view
13. All 7 mirrors are in good conditions no crack no damage properly attached to tractor body my
view is clear
14. Emergency glass is in good condition no crack no damage properly attached to tractor body, and
giving me a clear view
15. Seat is in good condition properly attached to tractor body and lock properly
16. Seat belt in good condition both buckle in good condition fastener present lock properly unlock
properly
17. Hook in good condition fasten present tight and secure
18. Both tether belt in good condition has no cut no damage fastener present tight and secure

Coupling uncoupling

1. Transmission neutral, break applied, wheel chocked, truck safe and secure
2. Surface hard and level
3. Lower the landing gear
4. Landing gear full down my handle is safe and secure
5. Take the rod from cabin
6. Pull the lever
7. Fifth wheel release pin is out
8. Fifth wheel is fully open
9. Remove lines
10. Put flasher light on
11. Pull out
12. There is enough gap between the 5th wheel trailer
13. Trailer legs hold the weight

coupling

1. No hanging wire my way is clear


2. Hank horn bring truck back
3. Trailer height according to fifth wheel height
4. King pin is in good condition no crack no damage fully greased
5. King pin properly mounted on upper coupling plate in good condition no crack no damage no
hole fully grease
6. Now I hook the trailer after that I will do 2 tug tests
7. Fifth wheel lever full in and locked
8. No gap between 5th wheel and upper coupler plate
9. Jaw fully locked no gap between 5th wheel and upper coupler plate
10. Flasher lights are on, my electric line connected properly
11. Rol up the landing gear
12. Landing gear fully up handle safe and secure
13. Now I will check both air lines
14. Make pressure more than 100psi release trailer break red nub
15. My pressure is stable turn truck off ignition on
16. Now I lessen if there is any audible air leak from supply line for 10-15 sec
17. No audible air leak from supply line and both pressure gages are still 100psi
18. Now I will check an audible air leak from service line by pressing foot break
19. Wait for pressure to be stable my pressure is 90psi I will hear if there is a leak from service line
for 10-15 sec
20. There is no leak from service line
21. Now apply trailer break my spring break working properly
