PUBLIC SUPPORT

FOR CIGARETTE PRICE

INCREASE
By: Hasbullah Thabrany, Renny Nurhasana, Teguh Dartanto, Aryana Satrya,

The majority of societies including smokers support the increase of

cigarette prices to prevent children from buying cigarettes. Increasing
cigarette prices up to three-fold from the current average price might
reduce more than a half of cigarette consumption. The society also agrees
that the increase of tobacco tax excise should be earmarked for financing
health issues in Indonesia, i.e. the National Health Insurance Program.
