EFFECTIVE PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES FOR IMPROVING LITERACY AND NUMERACY SKILLS

In these quotes we understand that teaching-learning styles evolve from simple to complex. From
being teacher centered to student centered approach. From passive learning to active learning. In this
century educator must be able to collaborate and work well within a team for us to become an effective
teacher. Over the past decade, this important skill has grown quite rapidly in schools. Learning is deemed
to be more effective when you can share your ideas and knowledge with others. Sharing your expertise
and experience and communicating and learning from others is an important part of the learning and
teaching process. Effective teachers share their knowledge and expertise and act as a role model for their
students.
One of the goals is Quality Education, we can achieve this by having good methods that could
provide solutions to fight the illiteracy. Pedagogy and Andragogy are complementary in achieving this goal.
But how, education started in the house which the parents teach their child how to write, count, and read.
In this time preparation for education was established even not so firm so the parents are also an active
partner in this goal. Afterwards, if the students were able to go to school the proper education is activated.
In teaching students (child) we use the method pedagogy. Pedagogy is the method and practice of
teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept. An example of pedagogy is the practice
of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Preparatory training or instruction. The strategies of
instruction. Having a well-thought-out pedagogy can improve the quality of your teaching and the way
students learn, helping them gain a deeper grasp of fundamental material. Being mindful of the way you
teach can help you better understand how to help students achieve deeper learning. In this time, we
teachers are the main actors in providing quality education because our students are guided by us. This
teaching and learning process using a specific curriculum with specific goals in mind. But education is
lifelong learning process meaning it change every time, the process, the techniques, the approaches, the
methods must change to adopt in the learning environment. Different generations update from time to
time from simple using cellphone as means of communication to the use of gadgets in the delivery of
teaching-learning process. So, teachers must also be updated in the changing learning environment.
In line with this, Bunggo National High School team conducted a Learning Action Cell last November
29, 2023 in order upgrade the knowledge and skills as an effective and efficient educator. Dr. Ligaya B.
Fuego, PSDS-Cluster 7 serve as resource speaker in the said activity.
Before it started participants was asked to form a group and give their ideas about the difference of
teaching strategies, methods, techniques and others. This serve as motivation that makes push-on the
critical thinking skills of the teachers. Speakers discuss every details needed that truly helped the teachers
to refresh about the topic. It was very amazing and wonderful talk because all teachers were enjoying
learning because it is truly helpful when it comes to the teaching-learning process. Lastly, after the fruitful
discussion participants asked to answer the Post -Test and Evaluation.

 In conclusion, effective pedagogy is not a one-size-fits-all concept but a flexible and ad
that takes into account the unique needs and characteristics of learners. It is an ongoing process of
reflection, adjustment, and commitment to providing high-quality education that prepares students for
success in an ever-changing world.
