Subject: Carriage of Durian

Dear All,

Kindly be informed, the Durian shipment shall be accepted for acceptance provided the below processes
are performed accordingly. This process shall be reflected in the next Cargo Manual Issue 11 Revision
01 - Chapter 4.2.3.3.

Carriage of Durian

a. General Information and Booking

i. Durian or durian paste shall be included in the sample with complete actual product and
packaging to perform a Smell test.
ii. Each shipper is compulsory to get an approval from the MAA prior to making a booking.
iii. An appointment request via email to the MAA for Smell test, Packaging inspection
(inner/outer) shall be made by the shipper prior to booking. Shipper must provide 02
commodity pieces for drop test and smell test
iv. All inquiries shall be emailed to help@teleport.asia

b. Packaging and packaging test

i. For passenger aircraft, durians shall be individually wrapped in thick paper packaging and
vacuum sealed prior to being placed in a Styrofoam box.
ii. Styrofoam box dimension must be 90cm x 70cm x 50cm, and 30mm thickness. It must be
sealed with duct tape (4cm width). Each Styrofoam box has a maximum allowable weight
capped at 25kg.
iii. Recycled Styrofoam packaging is strictly prohibited.

iv. To ensure a limitation by leaving a gap with the height of 10cm to 15cm on the inner side of the
Styrofoam box (from the durian to the Styrofoam lid)
v. Drop test for packaging standards shall be carried out consisting of the actual commodity for
durian’s or durian paste. Shipper must provide 02 commodity pcs for drop test and smell test.
The approval period shall be up to 06 months based on the condition of the commodity during
the testing period.
vi. All products containing durian ingredients shall be handled as per actual durian fruit shipment.
vii. Compulsory random inspection to be carried out at CTO prior to acceptance. All shipments are
subjected to 10% compulsory random inspection during submission.
viii. Any compromised (deformed Styrofoam box, either inflated or deflated) or damaged durian
cargo must be immediately rejected or offloaded (at any point of the shipment movements),
before the shipment reaching the destination.
ix. Shippers shall be informed to replace packaging and proceed for resubmission.

c. Documentation

i. Upon submission, Shipper must prepare documents pertaining to packaging.


- Immediate inner and outer packaging inspection report.
- Smell test result after 48 hours from the date and time of submission for durian product.
ii. All shipments must be notified on the carriage of durian through NOTOC.
iii. All approval records are to be monitored by cargo operations personnel.
