1. The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH),
Hyderabad, as WHO-Collaborating Centre (CC) for “Fundamental and Literary Research in Traditional Medicine”. In India,
there are approximately 58 WHO-CCs spanning various disciplines of biomedicine and allied sciences. Notably, CCRAS-NIIMH
joins the ranks as the third WHO-CC in the domain of traditional medicine, following the Institute for Teaching and Research
in Ayurveda, Jamnagar, and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi. The NIIMH is a unit under the
Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush. This prestigious recognition is granted for a
period of 4 years, starting from June 3, 2024. The institute, established in 1956, has been a pioneer in various digital
initiatives of Ayush, including the AYUSH Manuscripts Advanced Repository (AMAR) portal. The Showcase of Ayurvedic
Historical Imprints (SAHI) portal showcases 793 medico-historical artefacts, while the e-Books of Ayush project provides
digital versions of classical textbooks. The institute also publishes the Journal of Indian Medical Heritage. {Read more}

2. Dr Kapil Dua, a pioneer in hair transplant surgery in India with over two decades of experience, is
appointed as the President of the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AAHRS). The
announcement was made at the 8th Annual Scientific Meeting and Surgical Workshop of AAHRS, held in
China. Dr Kapil Dua, Co-founder of AK Clinics, is a leading figure in hair transplant surgery in India. Dr
Kapil Dua, who previously served as President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery
(ISHRS) in 2022-2023 and the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons (AHRS) India in 2016-2017, is the only Indian hair
transplant surgeon to have led national, global, and now Asian organizations in hair restoration. His presidency at AAHRS
will focus on advancing educational initiatives, fostering innovative surgical techniques, and enhancing collaboration among

3. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has unveiled a mobile application, titled “NCRB Sankalan of Criminal Laws”,
ahead of the enforcement of new criminal laws set to take effect from July 1, 2024. The app aims to serve as a comprehensive
guide consolidating essential information about the upcoming legal reforms in one accessible platform. Designed to cater
to a wide audience ranging from the general public to legal professionals, the app includes detailed compilations of 3 major
legislations: Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code), Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (Code of Criminal Procedure),
and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act). It provides users with an indexed structure linking all chapters and

4. Indian Army has received the first-of-its-kind Man Portable Counter Drone System (MPCDS)
developed by AXISCADES Technologies Ltd. AXISCADES received a Landmark Order of Rs 100
Crore from the Indian Army for the same. Uniquely designed and entirely Made in India, the
MPCDS is compact, portable, and operates on both battery and mains power. The system holds
the ability to detect and jam a wide variety of drones within a range of up to 5 kilometres. This
is the first Counter Drone System being inducted into the Indian Defence Forces in the man

8. Indian Army has received the first batch of domestically produced man-portable
suicide drones, called “Nagastra-1”. These drones are engineered to accurately strike
enemy training camps, launch pads, and infiltrators, thus minimising risk to soldiers.
The drones have been designed and developed fully in India by Economic Explosives
Limited (EEL), a subsidiary of Solar Industries, and have an indigenous content of over
75%. Nagastra-1 is a cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed for loitering
munitions with advanced features such as abort, recover, and reuse capabilities. The fixed-wing electric UAV has an
endurance of 60 minutes, a man-in-loop range of 15 km, and a range of 30 km in autonomous mode. {Read more}

10. Assam government has introduced new scheme called “Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM)” to combat child marriage
and empower girl children through education. The scheme will benefit approximately 10 lakh girl students. It aims at
empowering young girls and ensuring their continued education. Under MMNM scheme, girls enrolled in higher secondary
first year will receive Rs 1,000 on 11th day of each month. Those enrolled in 3-year or 4-year degree courses will receive Rs

11. Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Culture, has signed an
MoU with Sansad TV, the official broadcast channel of the Indian Parliament. The partnership is aimed at enhancing public
access to India’s vast cultural treasures. Sansad TV is also expected to offer an additional time slot for an interview-based
podcast show by the IGNCA. The programme aims to bring diverse content on art, culture, history, and literature to a broader
audience. The MoU was signed by the Member Secretary, Sachchidanand Joshi, on behalf of the IGNCA, and the CEO of

extending financial assistance for campus development through ODA loans totalling Japanese yen 23,035 million (around
