The global One Health Community is
organizing the 8th World One Health
Congress, which will take place from
20 to 23 September 2024, in
Cape Town, South Africa.

The Congress foresees four days of an outstanding, exceptional and forward-


thinking agenda, which includes parallel tracks addressing one health
science, antimicrobial agents and resistance, and science policy interface,
amongst others.
It will enable discussing major One Health challenges, as well as sharing
research data and policy developments. Above all, it will provide a great

centre on the African continent. It has built an enviable
reputation as a premier conference venue in South Africa
and the world, with over 20 years’ experience in service
excellence driven by a dedicated team of experts. The
centre opened in June 2003, run as a joint partnership
between the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape
government. At the inauguration, former President Thabo
Mbeki referred to the CTICC as “a symbol of hope, a
symbol of our glorious past, a symbol of modernity and a

EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE ON CRITICAL TOPICS RELATED TO ONE HEALTH. ONE OF THE KEY

to discuss major One Health challenges and give the opportunity
to share research data and policy developments

 Through an open call for abstracts, highlight work from scientists


and key opinion leaders in One Health around the world and
bring evidence-based research and policy developments to the
community

 Provide an opportunity to One Health Early Career scientists and


participants from LMIC to participate in the congress through
grants.
One Health Early Career
Scientists’ Fund and the
LMIC Participants’ Fund

The global One Health Community actively supports the work of early career scientists
through the One Health Early Career Scientists’ Fund which provides registration, travel and
accommodation grants to early career scientists.
Furthermore, the global One Health Community actively supports the participation of
delegates from LMICs (as defined by the World Bank list) by also providing registration,
travel and accommodation grants to researchers with promising scientific findings.
Intercontinental partnerships with World One Health leaders, together with the involvement
of underserved communities and international associations such as World Health
Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World
Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), UN Environment Programme (UNEP), World
Veterinary Association (WVA), World Medical Association (WMA), EcoHealth Alliance
and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will guarantee capacity
building at the meeting and far beyond.
The 8th World One Health Congress will provide early career and One
Health scientists from LMICs with a unique opportunity to physically
