Life-jackets:
An adult life-jacket shall be so constructed that:
shall not burn or continue melting after being in a fire for a period of ---- seconds.
At least ----- of persons, who are completely unfamiliar with the life-jacket, can correctly don in
without assistance or without prior demonstration;
It is comfortable to wear
It allows the wearer to jump from a height of at least ----- m into the water without injury and
without damaging the life-jacket;
Shall have buoyancy which is not reduced by more than ---- after ---- hours submersion in fresh
water;
Shall be fitted with a whistle firmly secured by a cord.
An adult life-jacket shall have sufficient buoyancy and stability in calm fresh
water to:
Lift the mouth of an exhausted or unconscious person not less than ----- mm clear of the water;
Turn the body of an unconscious person in the water from any position to one where the mouth is
clear of the water in not more than ---- s.
Shall allow the person wearing it to swim a short distance and board a survival craft.
Inflatable lifejackets
A lifejacket which depends on inflation for buoyancy shall have not less than two separate compartments
and comply with the all requirements for ordinary lifejacket, and shall:
Inflate automatically on immersion, be provided with a device to permit inflation by a single manual
motion and be capable of being inflated by mouth;
Shall have buoyancy which is not reduced by more than ---- after ------- hours submersion in
freshwater after inflation by means of the automatic mechanism.
The immersion suit shall be constructed with water-proof material such that:
It can be unpacked and easily donned it without assistance within ---- minutes, including clothing and
life-jacket if the immersion suit shall be worn with a life-jacket;
It will not burn or continue melting after being in a fire for a period of two seconds
It will cover the whole body with the exception of the face.
Following a jump from a height of not less than ----- m into the water there is no ingress of water into
the suit.
An immersion suit which complying with the requirements of life-jacket shall be classified as a life-jacket.
An immersion suit which has buoyancy and is designed to be worn without a lifejacket shall be fitted
with a light and the whistle complying with the requirements for life-jackets.
In that case immersion suit shall permit the person wearing it:
to climb up and down a vertical ladder at least ----- m in length
to perform normal duties associated abandonment
to jump from the height of not less than ---- meters into the water without damaging an immersion
suit or being injured.
To swim in a short distance through the water and board a survival craft
An immersion suit shall be made of material which has no insolation, shall be:
A person in fresh water wearing either an immersion suit or an immersion suit with the life-jacket, shall
be able to turn from face down to a face up position in not more than ----- seconds.
Cover the whole body of the persons of all sizes wearing a lifejacket with the exception of the face.
Be capable of being unpacked and easily donned it without assistance in a survival craft or rescue
boat.
Permit the wearer to remove it in the water in not more than ------ minutes, if it impairs ability to
swim.
The thermal protective aid shall function properly an air temperature range -------- C to ----- C.
All lifeboats – Lifeboats can be: open, partially enclosed or totally enclosed
All lifeboats shall have rigid hulls and shall be capable of maintaining positive stability when in an upright
position in calm fresh water and loaded with their full complement of persons and equipment.
All lifeboat shall be fitted with a certificate of approval, endorsed by an administration, containing at least
the following items:
Enable them to be safely launched into the water when loaded with their full complement of persons
and equipment
Be capable of being launched and towed when ship is making headway at a speed of ---- knots in
calm water
Must have inside: oars/hooks, survival manual, compass, sea anchors, water ------- liter per person, food
--------- KJ per person, ----- hand flares, ----- rockets, ---- smoke buys, daylight mirror, waterproof
torch, first aid kit, Anti seasickness tablets.
Lifeboat buoyancy
All lifeboats shall have buoyancy or shall be fitted with buoyant material which shall not be affected by
seawater, oil or oil products. Every lifeboat shall be powered by a compression ignition engine. No
engine shall be used for any lifeboat if its fuel has a flashpoint of ------- C or less.
The engine shall be powered with either a manual starting system, or a power starting system with two
independent rechargeable energy sources. The speed of a lifeboat when proceeding ahead in calm
water, when loaded with their full complement of persons and equipment shall be at least ------ knots
and at least ------ knots when towing a -------person life-raft loaded with its full complement of
persons and equipment. Sufficient fuel shall be provided to run the fully loaded lifeboat at ------ knots
for a period of not less than ----- ours.
LIFE RAFTS
Every life raft shall be so constructed as to be capable of withstanding exposure for ------ days afloat in all
sea conditions.
When it is dropped into the water from a height of -------- m, the life raft and its equipment will operate
satisfactorily. The floating life raft shall be capable of withstanding repeated jumps on to it from a
height of at least ------ m above its floor both with or without canopy erected. Canopy protects
people from heat and cold.
The life raft and its fittings shall be so constructed as to enable it to be towed at a speed of ----- knots in
calm water when loaded with its full complement of persons and equipment.
If the life raft should not be launched by a launching device, then the mass of the life raft, its container
and its equipment should not be more than ------ kg.
Life raft equipment is: survival manual, medical first aid pack, sea mirror, tin opener, knife, water proof
torch for Morse code, daylight mirror, food RATION MIN -------- KJ per person, water --- liter per
person. CO2 gas is used to inflate life rafts.
The rochet shall, when fired vertically, reach an altitude of not less than -------- meters, at or near of the
top of its trajectory, the rocket shall eject a parachute flare, which shall:

The system shall be capable of operation from the navigation bridge and, except for the
ship’s whistle also from other strategic points.
The system shall be audible in all accommodation and normal crew working spaces.
