INTRODUCTION

In today’s modern world, education is undergoing a wonderful evolution.

Wherein teachers are engage in creating an innovative and creative way of
teaching, in order for the learners to have a more meaningful and fun experiences
while learning at the same time. The combination of games and learning has
emerged as a powerful tool that transforms the traditional teaching
methodologies.
Our study will be focusing on using a game-based approach to learning, as it is a
strategy that leverages the principles and mechanics of games to engage learners
in the process of acquiring knowledge and skills.

RELATED STUDIES
A study conducted by Conte Jr. in 2023 at Pangasinan State University is
about the effect of game-based learning, specifically the game "Larong
Akademiko (L-Akad) para sa Pilipino", on the learning performance of first year
college students. The purpose of the study is to determine the acceptability and
effectiveness of the card game as it is integrated into learning in the academe.
The findings of the study indicate that the game "Larong Akademiko (L-
Akad) para sa Pilipino" had a positive impact on the learning performance of first
year college students. The post-test scores of the students who participated in the
game were significantly higher than their average pre-test scores, suggesting that
the game-based learning approach effectively enhanced their learning
performance. This indicates that the educational card game was well-accepted
and effective in improving the students' understanding of the subject matter.

Another study conducted by Yükseltürk, et. al., (2018) was made to
investigate the effects of game-based language learning with Kinect technology
on students’ self-efficacy beliefs and attitudes toward English. The study was
conducted at a state university located in Central Turkey.
According to the results, there was not a significant difference in the pre-
test scores of the students in the experimental and control group, whereas there
was a significant difference in their post-test scores. The results showed that both
groups had similar self-efficacy beliefs and attitudes toward English before the
experiment, but the students in the experiment group developed positive attitude
toward learning English after using Kinect-based games in the classroom.

Lastly, a study conducted by Alisherovna in 2023 focuses on the role of
phonetic games in the formation of phonetic skills in students, particularly in the
context of learning a foreign language. The purpose of the study on the role of
phonetic games in the formation of phonetic skills in students is to explore the
significance of phonetic games in the development of correct pronunciation and
phonetic skills in the initial stage of learning a foreign language.
The study emphasizes that phonetic games contribute to the consolidation
and improvement of pronunciation skills, as well as the development of mental
cognitive processes such as thinking, memory, perception, and attention.
Additionally, the study highlights the various functions of phonetic games,
including their educational, developmental, entertainment, communicative,
psychological, and motor-speech functions.

RESEARCH METHOD
This research made use of descriptive research method, to test the oral
performance of BSED English first year students in terms of pronunciation. This
research made use of quantitative research method in the form of game-based
learning to determine the oral level performance of the students with the
adapted rubrics from Pronunciation Assessment. Statistical analysis will be
performed using pearson correlation.
