A. Do the inspections identified in the engine manual (EM) Chapter 05 sections:

(1) For manufacturer's recommended maintenance. Refer to TASK 05-22-00-200-
801 (05-22-00, LIFE LIMITS 001).
(2) For mandatory inspections as specified in the piece part sections of the
engine manual at each piece part exposure. Refer to TASK 05-21-00-200-
801 (05-21-00, LIFE LIMITS 001).
(3) For module level inspection when an engine is in the shop for HPT rotor
or HPT stator piece part disassembly and inspection. Refer to TASK 05-
21-00-200-801 (05-21-00, LIFE LIMITS 001).
NOTE:TASK 05-21-00-200-801 (05-21-00, LIFE LIMITS 001) defines the
manufacturer's recommended engine scheduling and inspection information.
Subtask 72-00-00-220-048

B. Do an inspection of the engine accessories installed or removed from the

engine:
(1) Do a general visual inspection (GVI) of control and accessory
components, either installed or removed for access. If defects are
observed, refer to the applicable Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) for
serviceability limits.
NOTE:A GVI is an inspection check. This is a visual inspection that will find
apparent unsatisfactory conditions and defects.

ENGINE ASSEMBLY - INSPECTION

C. Do an inspection of the engine condition before the induction to ensure

workscope effectiveness:
(1) Make sure that the engine performance trends are satisfactory and that
the engine will have adequate performance margin to return to a service
condition.
(2) Make sure that the engine has Life Limited Parts (LLP) stub life
consistent with post repair goals. Refer to TASK 05-11-00-200-801 (05-
11-00, LIFE LIMITS 001).
(3) If possible, make sure that all engine related fault messages within the
central maintenance computer (CMC) fault history or in the electronic
engine control (EEC) and engine monitoring unit (EMU) non-volatile
memory (NVM) have been reviewed and appropriate maintenance action
identified for the engine and parts.
NOTE:TASK 05-11-00-200-801 (05-11-00, LIFE LIMITS 001) defines rotating and
static structure parts that have life limitation in relation to the time
in service.
NOTE:Soft life thresholds are those life thresholds published in either the
GEnx Workscope Planning Guide or the operators approved customized
Repair Specification.
Subtask 72-00-00-220-050

D. Do a borescope inspection to the modules as follows:

(1) Booster. Refer to AMM B787-A-G72-00-00-00B-280C-A.
(2) High pressure compressor (HPC). Refer to AMM B787-A-G72-00-00-06B-280C-
A.
(3) Combustor and high pressure turbine (HPT) stage 1 nozzle leading edge.
Refer to AMM B787-A-G72-00-00-07B-280C-A.
(4) HPT. Refer to AMM B787-A-G72-00-00-09B-280C-A.
(5) Low pressure turbine (LPT). Refer to AMM B787-A-G72-00-00-10B-280C-A.
4. Specific Inspection Procedure for Quick Turn (Q/T) or Continued Time Engines.
Subtask 72-00-00-220-051

A. This procedure gives inspection requirements for quick-turn (Q/T) engines or

low maintenance (continued time) engines. A Q/T and low maintenance
workscope is defined as either one or a combination of the following:
(1) An engine that has a shop visit for designated Service Bulletin
activity. There could be more than one Service Bulletin applied at one
time.
(2) An engine that has limited maintenance activity that results in the
engine being continued time.
(3) Engines that are reworked in accordance with special procedures where
partial disassembly is performed to enable access to specific
components.
(4) Engines defined as Q/T in a GE Product Support Engineering (PSE)
workscope or Service Bulletin.
NOTE:During these activities the engine will be considered to be continued
time. Continued time is defined as there is no maintenance action that
would result in extending the next scheduled shop visit of the engine

from what it was originally scheduled.

Example: An engine has heavy maintenance activity (e.g. HPT rotor or
stator overhaul) that results in a scheduled shop visit following the
accumulation of approximately 3500 cycles. After 1000 cycles the engine
has minor maintenance activity in accordance with 72-00-00 low
maintenance activity. The engine is returned to service with the
scheduled shop visit to occur in 2500 cycles. Thus, the original
intended 3500 cycles between scheduled shop visits for heavy maintenance
is kept. Cyclic life is used for example only.

B. Do the inspections identified in TASK 05-22-00-200-801 (05-22-00, LIFE

LIMITS 001):
NOTE:TASK 05-22-00-200-801 (05-22-00, LIFE LIMITS 001) defines the
manufacturer's engine scheduling and inspection information.

C. Do an inspection of the engine condition before the induction to ensure

workscope effectiveness:
(1) Make sure that the engine performance trends are satisfactory and that
the engine will have adequate performance margin to return to a service
condition.
(2) Make sure that the engine has LLP stub life consistent with post repair
goals. Refer to TASK 05-11-00-200-801 (05-11-00, LIFE LIMITS 001).
(3) If possible, make sure that all engine related fault messages within the
CMC fault history or in the EEC and EMU NVM have been reviewed and
appropriate maintenance action identified for the engine and parts.
(4) During low maintenance, quick turn activity or continued time shop
visits, soft life thresholds for modules and accessories could be
exceeded.
NOTE:TASK 05-11-00-200-801 (05-11-00, LIFE LIMITS 001) defines rotating and
static structure parts that have life limitation in relation to the time
in service.

(1) Do a GVI of all parts that are removed. If defects are observed, refer
to the applicable module level inspection page block in the applicable
ATA section for serviceable limits, module assembly level inspection.
(2) Do a GVI of all parts that were not removed but are exposed because of
removal of other engine parts. If defects are observed, refer to the
applicable module level inspection page block in the applicable ATA
section for serviceable limits, module assembly level inspection.
(3) Do a GVI of all control and accessory components, either installed or
removed for access. If defects are observed, refer to the applicable CMM
inspection section for serviceable limits.
NOTE:Continued removal of parts (disassembly) is not necessary if the exposed
parts are in a serviceable condition by visual inspection.

apparent unsatisfactory conditions and defects.
NOTE:During low maintenance and or Q/T activity, components identified in
TASK 05-21-00-200-801 (05-21-00, LIFE LIMITS 001) that become piece part

or special procedure applicable to the maintenance performed defines
that the mandatory inspection does not need to be accomplished.
