ㄝ (e) cannot form a syllable alone

ㄩ (ü) can only combine with ㄐ (j)、ㄑ (q)、ㄒ (x)

→ ju (居)、qu (區)、xu (需) （So you can drop the dots）

Some consonants can form a syllable alone in 注音 Zhùyīn:

In 拼音 Pīnyīn, add an “i”→ zhi 知、chi 吃、shi 失、ri 日、zi、ci、si
