1. This Question paper contains - five sections A, B, C, D and E. Each section is compulsory.

26 Find the value of a, if the distance between the points A (–3, –14) and B (a, –5) is 9 units.
OR
Find a relation between x and y such that the point (x, y) is equidistant from the point
(3, 6) and (– 3, 4).

27 Solve 2x + 3y = 11 and 2x – 4y = – 24 and hence find the value of ‘m’ for which y = mx + 3.

28 Find the 31st term of an AP whose 11th term is 38 and the 16th term is 73.

29 A survey conducted on 20 households in a locality by a group of students resulted in the

the box at random. What is the probability that the marble taken out will be
(i) red ?

32 Solve the quadratic equation:

The altitude of a right triangle is 7 cm less than its base. If the hypotenuse is 13 cm, find the other
two sides.
33 A tree breaks due to storm and the broken part bends so that the top of the tree touches the
ground making an angle 30° with it. The distance between the foot of the tree to the point where
the top touches the ground is 8 m. Find the height of the tree.
OR
From the top of a 7 m high building, the angle of elevation of the top of a cable tower is 60° and
the angle of depression of its foot is 45°. Determine the height of the tower.

34 The coach of a cricket team buys 7 bats and 6 balls for RS.3800. Later, she buys 3 bats and 5 balls
for RS.1750. Find the cost of each bat and each ball.

35 Find the median of the distribution given below.

SECTION E
(This section comprises of 3 case study/passage-based questions of 4 marks each with two sub-
parts. First two case study questions have three sub parts (i),(ii),(iii) of marks 1, 1, 2 respectively.
The third case study question has two sub parts of 2 marks each.)

36 Case Study 1 :
In an examination hall, students are seated at a distance of 2m from each other, to
maintain social distance due to CORONA virus pandemic. Let three students sit at
point A, B and C whose coordinates are 4, −3 , 7,3 𝑎𝑛𝑑 8,5 respectively.

(i) Find the distance between A and C.


(ii) Find the mid-point of line segment joining the point A and C.
(iii) Find the ratio in which B divides the line segment joining A and C.
Or
If point D divides line joining the point A and C in the ratio 1:2 then find
the coordinates of the point D.
37 Case-Study 2:
A boy is standing on the top of light house. He observed that boat P and boat Q are
approaching the light house from opposite directions. He finds that angle of depression
of boat P is 45° and angle of depression of boat Q is 30°. He also knows that height of the
light house is 100 m.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions.


(i) What is the measure of ∠APD?
(ii) If ∠YAQ = 30°, then ∠AQD is also 30°, Why?
(iii) Find length of PD

38 Case- Study 3:
In a class the teacher asks every student to write an example of A.P two friends geeta and
madhuri write their progressions a -5,-2,1,4,… and 187, 184, 181,…. Respectively. Now, the
teacher asks various students of the class the following questions on these two progressions.
Help students to find the answers of the questions.

(i) Find the sum of common difference of the two progressions.


(ii) Find the sum of first 10 terms of the progression written by geeta .
or
find the 19th term of the progression written by geeta .
