NOTES
Magic Ring: Is also known as a Drawstring Ring or Magic Loop
and is often used as a start for working amigurumi. If you are not
familiar with this technique you could substitute with a ch2 and
then work in the second ch from the hook.
Working in the Round: Most sections of this pattern are worked
in the amigurumi style without joining in continuous rounds. Place
the stitch marker in the top of the first st to mark the start of each
round.
PATTERN
Red Tabby Head
Make 1. Starting at the front of the head and working backwards;
Rnd 1: With Yarn A make a magic ring, work 6dc into ring. (6 sts).
Rnd 2: [2dc] to end. (12 sts).
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st and weave in ends.
From this point onwards you will be working the pattern stripes of
two rnds of Yarn B followed by two rnds of Yarn A;
To end a rnd fasten off with a sl st to the next st and weave in
ends, to start a rnd sl st to any st, this helps avoid colour jogging of
the stripes.
Rnd 3: [1dc, 2dc] to end. (18 sts).
Rnd 4: [1dc in the next two sts, 2dc] to end. (24 sts).
Rnd 5: [1dc in the next three sts, 2dc] to end. (30 sts).
Rnd 6: [1dc in the next four sts, 2dc] to end. (36 sts).

Rnd 29: [dc2tog] to end. (6 sts).
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st and using the yarn tail sew up
the remaining six sts, weave in ends.
Red Tabby Nose
Rnds 1 - 5: With Yarn C make as Head. (30 sts).
Rnds 6 - 8: 1dc in each st around.
Add nose between rnds 5 - 6.
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st but leave a long yarn tail.

Invisible Double Crochet Decrease: Invisible decreasing is a
method of removing stitches to shape your fabric without gaps.
Insert hook in the Front Loop Only of the first stitch indicated and
BORDER
pull up a loop (two loops on hook), insert hook in the Front Loop
Only of the next st, yarn over, pull through three loops on hook;
decrease made.
Changing Colour (cc): When changing to a different colour, pull
the new colour through the last two loops of the previous st to
complete that st. Continue in the new colour, following the pattern.
Change colours in this manner, whenever indicated on the pattern.
When changing to and from a colour, carry the unused coloured
yarn along the wrong side of the work loosely so that the work
does not gather. Crochet over the unused colour as they are
carried along; this will hide the strands of yarn invisibly and
eliminate long unused strands carried across the back of the work.
Sewing Seams: Use mattress stitch to sew the seams.
Red Tabby Outer Ears
Make 2. Ears are not stuffed;
Rnd 1: With Yarn A make a magic ring, work 3dc into ring. (3 sts).
Rnd 2: [2dc] to end. (6 sts).
Rnd 3: [1dc in the next two sts, 2dc] to end. (8 sts).
Rnd 4: [1dc in the next three sts, 2dc] to end. (10 sts).
Rnd 5: [1dc in the next four sts, 2dc] to end. (12 sts).
Rnd 6: [1dc the next st, 2dc] to end. (18 sts).
Rnds 7 - 10: 1dc in each st around.
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st, leave a long yarn tail for
sewing ears to the head.
Red Tabby Inner Ears
Make 2. The ch1 at the beginning of a row doesn’t count as a st;
Row 1: Ch2, 2dc in second ch from hook, turn. (2 sts).
Row 2: Ch1, 2dc in the first st, 1dc in the last st, turn. (3 sts).
Row 3: Ch1,1dc in 2sts, 2dc in the last st, turn. (4 sts).
Row 4: Ch1, 2dc in the first st, 1dc in the next 3sts, turn. (5 sts).
Row 5: Ch1,1dc in 4sts, 2dc in the last st, turn. (6 sts).
Fasten off but leave a long tail for attaching the Inner Ears to the
Outer Ears.
Red Tabby Body
Make 1. Working from the bottom forwards;
Work the pattern stripes of two rnds of Yarn B followed by two
rnds of Yarn A;
To end a rnd fasten off with a sl st to the next st and weave in
ends, to start a rnd sl st to any st, this helps avoid colour jogging of
the stripes.
Rnds 1 - 9: With Yarn A make as Head. (54 sts).
Rnd 10: [1dc in the next eight sts, 2dc] to end. (60 sts).
Rnds 11 - 16: 1dc in each st around.
Rnd 17: [1dc in the next eight sts, dc2tog] to end. (54 sts).
Rnd 18: 1dc in each st around.
Rnd 19: [1dc in the next seven sts, dc2tog] to end. (48 sts).
Rnd 20: 1dc in each st around.
Rnd 21: [1dc in the next six sts, dc2tog] to end. (42 sts).
Rnd 22: 1dc in each st around.
Rnd 23: [1dc in the next five sts, dc2tog] to end. (36 sts).
Rnd 24: 1dc in each st around.

Make 1. The ch1 at the beginning of a row doesn’t count as a st;
Row 1: With Yarn C; ch9, 1dc in second ch from hook, 1dc in each
st across, turn. (8 sts).
Row 2: Ch1, 2dc in the first st, 1dc in 6sts, 2dc in the last st, turn.
(10 sts).
Rows 3 - 4: Ch1, 1dc in each st across, turn. (10 sts).
Row 5: Ch1, 2dc in the first st, 1dc in 8sts, 2dc in the last st, turn.
(12 sts).
Rows 6 - 7: Ch1, 1dc in each st across, turn. (12 sts).
Row 8: Ch1, 2dc in the first st, 1dc in 10sts, 2dc in the last st, turn.

Fasten off but leave a long tail for sewing onto the front of the
Body.
Join the head to the body: Attach head on the open top of the
body. Then attach the tummy panel to the front of the body lining
up row 1 with the top of the body.
Front Legs: Sew the side edges together then attach to rnd 27 of
the Body approximately 5sts apart making sure the body can stay
upright as you attach.
Hind Legs: Sew the side edges together then attach over rnds
10 - 18 on either side of the body making sure the body stayed
upright as you attach.
Tail: Attach tail onto the back of the Body.
Collar: The ch1 at the beginning of a row doesn’t count as a st;
Row 1: With Blue Yarn; ch31 (or a ch big enough to fit around
neck), 1dc in the second st from the ch, 1dc in each st along, turn.
(30 sts).
Ch1, 1dc in each st across. Fasten off and sew the ends of the
collar together around join of the head to the Body.

Rnd 2: [2dc] to end. (10 sts).

Work the pattern stripes of two rnds of Yarn B followed by two
rnds of Yarn A;
To end a rnd fasten off with a sl st to the next st and weave in

Rnds 10 - 42: 1dc in each st around.
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st, leave a long yarn tail for
sewing the tail to the body.
Stuff tail up to rnd 28 (leaving very top unstuffed so it can bend).

Make 4.
Rnds 1 - 5: With Yarn C work as body. (30 sts).
Rnds 6 - 10: 1dc in each st around.
Rnd 11: [1dc in the next three sts, dc2tog] to end. (24 sts).
Rnd 12: [1dc in the next two sts, dc2tog] to end. (18 sts).
Rnds 13 - 22: 1dc in each st around.
Work the pattern stripes of two rnds of Yarn B followed by two
rnds of Yarn A;
To end a rnd fasten off with a sl st to the next st and weave in
ends, to start a rnd sl st to any st, this helps avoid colour jogging of
the stripes.
Rnds 23 - 32: 1dc in each st around.
Fasten off with a sl st to the next st, leave a long yarn tail for
sewing legs to the body.
Stuff the leg up to the top of rnd 22.

Making Up
Nose: Using Yarn B, embroider a vertical line down the front of
the snout below the nose. Stuff the nose then attach the nose over
rnds 14 – 23 on the front of the Head.

Ears: Attach inner ears to the outer ears, then attach to either side
of the head over rnds 3 - 10, curving them slightly at the bottom as
you attach them.
