• The 71st Miss World pageant, held at the Jio World Convention
Centre in Mumbai, saw participation from 112 countries.
• Last year's winner, Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska of
Poland crowned Krystyna as the 71st Miss World.
• The event was hosted by Karan Johar and Megan Young
• India, the host after 28 years, was represented by Sini Shetty

 PM Modi inaugurates Sela Tunnel connecting Assam to
Arunachal/

• Sela Tunnel is constructed by the Border Roads Organisation

(BRO) at an altitude of 13,000 feet on the road
• connecting Tezpur, Assam to Tawang in the West Kameng
district of Arunachal Pradesh.
• Built at a total cost of Rs 825 crore
• It is the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel at an altitude above
13,000 ft
• The tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang
across Sela Pass on the Balipara - Chariduar - Tawang Road.
• This tunnel will also ensure that the Chinese are not able to
monitor traffic movement in the area. The Sela Pass, at 13,700
feet, is currently visible to the Chinese and hence can observe all
kinds of military movement.
• The Sela Tunnel consists of one main tunnel and one escape
tunnel — both 1,555 metres-long — besides a shorter tunnel of
980 metres and a 1.2 km road.
• The Sela Tunnel has been constructed using the new Austrian
Tunnelling Method.
• The foundation stone of the tunnel was laid by the Prime
Minister on February 09, 2019, and the construction commenced
on April 01, 2019.
‘Samudrayaan set to explore ocean bed by 2025

• Samudrayaan mission is aimed at sending 3 personnel to 6000-
metre depth in a vehicle called ‘MATSYA 6000’ for the exploration
of deep-sea resources.
• India should be able to send its scientists to study the deep ocean
6 km under the sea surface in its own Samudrayaan by the end of
next year.
• Samudrayaan, or Deep Ocean Mission has been launched
w.e.f. 07.09. 2021, as a Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Earth
Sciences
• The projected timeline is five years for the period 2020-2021 to
2025-2026.
• The submersible vessel is being developed by Chennai's National
Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).
• It will have an operational endurance of 12 hours, which is extendable
up to 96 hours in the event of an emergency.
• So far, countries such as the US, Russia, China, France and Japan have
carried out successful deep-ocean crewed missions.

Label Switching) router was launched in Bengaluru by Ashwini
Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and
Information Technology.
• MPLS is a routing technique in telecommunications networks
that directs data from one node to the next, based on labels
rather than network addresses.
• with a capacity of 2.4 Terabits per second (TBPS)

• The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

launched the fifth edition of "Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the
Rain" campaign on 9th March, 2024, at the NDMC Convention
Centre in New Delhi.
• The campaign, themed "Nari Shakti se Jal Shakti," emphasises
the integral role of women in water conservation and
management.
• The campaign comes under the National Water Mission,
Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga
Rejuvenation in collaboration with Department of Drinking
Water & Sanitation.
• The campaign will be implemented till the 30th of November,
2024

• Ministry of Jal Shakti launched Jal Shakti Abhiyan in 2019 as a

“Jan Andolan” to initiate water conservation at the grass-root
level through citizen participation to accelerate water
conservation across the country.

70.58 lakh.

 Life protection plan for Indian blue-collar
workers unveiled in the UAE

• India's consulate in Dubai has unveiled a new insurance

package for blue-collar Indian workers to provide financial
benefits to the kin of the deceased in case of natural and
accidental deaths.

• With approximately 3.5 million Indians residing in the UAE,

constituting around 65% of whom are blue-collar workers, this
group forms one of the largest contingents of migrant workers
in the country.

• Gargash Insurance Services and Orient Insurance, to devise

this inclusive insurance package. The LPP is effective from
March 1.
• In the year 2022, the consulate in Dubai registered
approximately 1,100 worker death, and in 2023, around
1,000 worker deaths were recorded

• It has been observed that in more than 90 percent of

cases, the cause of death is natural.
