- Advantage of using abbreviations:
+ Using abbreviations helps us to save time. When we are really busy or in hurry, instead of
using full sentences, short abbreviation are very comfortable and useful.
+ When using abbreviation, people feel sense of belonging and a closer bond of friendship
- Disadvantage of using abbreviations:
+ It creates social sense of alienation. This could cause a huge gap between generations (for
partner belonging to older generation)
+ It can be seen as informal and impolite

HOMEWORK 1:
Hi Mary,

Two days ago, you have asked to borrow the book “Pride and Prejudice” from me to use as a
reference to your English Literature assignment
I remember telling you about this book but at the moment I cannot find it on my bookshelf.
Maybe I have lent it to one of my teachers since previous semester
Tomorrow I will ask my teacher about it then notify you later. While you are waiting for my
reply, I can send you a PDF version of this book to read beforehand. Are you OK with this?
See you later

Bye,
Nga
