 How the Government of Kabankalan City Encourages and Supports Social Tourism

Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, is a city rich in cultural heritage and natural wonders,
making it an attractive destination for social tourism. The government of Kabankalan City has
been actively involved in promoting and supporting social tourism, recognizing its potential to
boost the local economy and promote community development. This explores the various
initiatives and programs implemented by the government to encourage and support social
tourism in Kabankalan City, contributing to sustainable development and enhancing the
experiences of both visitors and locals.
The government of Kabankalan City has taken several measures to encourage and support
social tourism. One notable event was the 116th founding anniversary of Kabankalan City,
during which Vice President Sara Duterte graced the event and emphasized the significance of
tourism in the city's recovery ("Vice President Sara Duterte Graces Kabankalan City," n.d.). This
demonstrates the high-level support for tourism and its role in the city's development,
showcasing the government's commitment to promoting social tourism.
In addition, various publications have been instrumental in showcasing the unique features
of Kabankalan City, thereby attracting more visitors and promoting social tourism. The
Kabankalan Vol. 2 magazine, for instance, has served as a platform to highlight the city's
attractions and cultural heritage (Kabankalan Vol. 2, 2019). Academic papers on the city's
festivals and tourism have also been important in promoting the city's cultural and tourism
offerings, further supporting social tourism ("Perceived Benefits Received and Behavioral

Furthermore, the government has collaborated with organizations such as the Technical
Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to provide training courses through the
Provincial Training Center. These courses have played a crucial role in equipping locals with the
skills needed to engage with tourists and provide high-quality services, thereby enhancing the
overall tourist experience and promoting social tourism (Provincial Training Center –
Kabankalan - Tesda Courses, n.d.).
Moreover, the government's involvement in showcasing and celebrating the city's cultural
festivals, such as the Siniulog Festival, has been key in positioning local cultural events as
attractions for tourists. These efforts not only promote social tourism but also contribute to
fostering a sense of community pride and identity among the locals

The initiatives of the government to promote social tourism have had a profound impact on
the local community and economy. Through the preservation and celebration of cultural heritage,

locals to engage with tourists, ensuring a positive experience for visitors. The promotion of

employment opportunities in the area.
 In conclusion, the government of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, has demonstrated a
strong commitment to promoting and supporting social tourism through various initiatives and
programs. By leveraging its cultural heritage, natural beauty, and community engagement, the
government has succeeded in fostering a thriving tourism sector that benefits both locals and
visitors. As Kabankalan City continues to evolve, its dedication to social tourism will play a vital
role in shaping its future, contributing to sustainable development and enriching the experiences
of all who visit.
