In some countries the average weight of people is increasing and their levels of health and

fitness are decreasing. What do you think the causes of these problems and what measures
could be taken to solve them?

It seems to be an increasingly widespread problem that most of people encounter the problem. It
means that people gain the weight and impair their health and fitness level. In my opinion, there
are several reasons contributing to this issue and methods should be put into action in a short time

This issue can be explained by daily eating habit and insufficient sport time. Firstly, people have
an unhealthy diet. For example, residents now obtain a more decent income, allowing them to buy
some food without checking its ingredients. The more demand customers have, the more product
manufactures make, hence there are increasingly high-fat and high-sugar food in the market,
providing more options for consumers to choose such unhealthy commodities. Moreover, another
factor is a lack of exercise for many people in some countries. In the contemporary society, as
more and more office workers face fierce competition, who may not have sufficient time to do
some sports. Especially, If they keep seated for extended periods, they may feel more
uncomfortable and gain more weight, which brings more harm to citizens’ spine and physical
growth 身体发育.

Turning to some solutions, this health crisis can be well managed by governments. First of all,
Citizens continually complain about this problem and measures should be taken to combat this
situation. But I think the solution to the problem lies with government to improve the facilities in
the community. For example, installing exercise equipment in parks is a great way to encourage
people to do some outdoor activities. Also, for unhealthy food consumption, government should
enact new tax regulations. When government enact the tax policies concerning high-fat
productions, manufacture may reduce these sorts of food.

In conclusion, while unbalance food intake and limit sport activities in people’s daily life all
contribute to this health problem, a more useful solution by governments will be needed to address
it.
