X-Ray Safety
X-Ray Safety
Failure to control, regulate or operate the device in compliance with
instructions and procedures described in this manual may cause danger and
radiation leak.
The useful X-rays may result in danger if used by unskilled operator although
this device is designed and manufactured in accordance with electric and
mechanical safety regulations and standards. Excessive X-rays can result in
serious body injuries.
Avoid “unqualified” and “unauthorized” personnel to operate the device so as to
protect the patient, operator or any other persons from unexpected X-ray
radiation.
Pay special attention to big patient to protect their skin or limbs from being
cramped by cradle and gantry.
The maximum load capability of the cradle is 200kg. Scanning accuracy can be
guaranteed within 200kg. If the weight exceeds this limit, the result might be:
y Property reduction of positioning of system.
y Reduction of scanning speed
y Damage and/or harm to patient
Check the connection of cradle end periodically. If it is damaged or loosed,
please repair and replace it.
Patient Scanning Safety
When performing a scan on a patient, please adhere to the following safety
instructions and rules:
y Close all doors of the Scan Room before a scan process is initiated.
Unless given permission by the doctor in charge, allow no one to enter
the Scan Room during the scan process.
y Advise the patient not to move during the positioning or scanning
procedures.
y Ensure that the patient's fingers and clothing do not get caught in
device during patient positioning.
y Advise the patients not to raise their heads or move their bodies during
scans.
y Remind the patients not to touch any external apparatus, such as
infusions and resuscitation device.
y Unchecked accessories can cause artifacts, injuries to the patient and
operating personnel or damage to the device. Therefore, only use
accessories approved by NMS and replace defective accessories by
new original accessories immediately.
y Ensure that all patient-support accessories (head holders, table
mattress, patient table extension, side rails, arm supports, leg support,
knee support, pediatric cradle) are whole and not damaged.
y Check that the head holders and leg supports are securely locked to
the patient table.
If damages or defects should occur on the system (patient table, Gantry) on
add-ons or accessories, safety of operation is no longer guaranteed. Watch out
for such damages and have these parts repaired or replaced immediately.
y After typing the Scan Increment value and pressing ENTER, check that
the desired value was correctly typed.
y Before pressing the MANUAL or AUTO SCAN keys, check that all scan
parameters, as displayed on the screen, were correctly entered.
Electrical Safety and Grounding
None-professional persons are not allowed to remove covers from this device.
High electrical voltages are present within this device. Removing covers could
lead to serious personal injuries.
Avoid any touch with the conductors.
Switch off the device before cleaning. Never let washing liquid splash into the
inside of gantry. If this happens, do not switch on the CT until it is completely
dried.
Don’t install condensation tubes on the top of the gantry to prevent condensed
water from dropping onto gantry. If water penetrates into gantry, it will cause
short-circuit and even system breakdown.
The system must be grounded to an earth ground by a separate conductor.
The neutral side of the line is not to be considered the earth ground. On device
provided with a line cord, the device must be connected to a properly grounded,
three-pin receptacle. Do not use a three-to-two pin adapter.
Don’t connect the multi-slot socket inside PC cabinet with any other devices
except for the monitor, operating computer and the switch power for hub and
CT box.
The power is 50kVA for low configuration NeuViz Dual CT scanner to function
normally. The power is 65kVA for high configuration NeuViz Dual CT scanner to
function normally. Do not start the system when electric power is not adequate.
Never use unstable generator for power supply or it could lead to damage to
computer or other device.
The main power should not be shut off in at least 30 minutes after the last
scanning is finished. This provides enough time for the cycled oil to cool the
X-ray tube.
Laser Safety
Instruct the patient not to stare into the beam before scanning because the
laser beam for patient positioning could bring harm to the eyes.
Implosion Hazard
Do not subject the system to serious mechanical shock, as the cathode ray
tube (CRT) can fracture if struck or jarred. This may result in flying pieces of
glass and phosphor coating that can cause serious injury.
Explosion Safety
This device must not be used in the presence of explosive gases or vapors,
such as certain anaesthetic gases. Use of electrical device in an environment
for which it was not designed can lead to fire or explosion.
stop button on the top of gantry panel or on the scan control panel.

Make sure of a fast contrast-injection speed. For the sake
of the clinical safe, it’s suggested to use 40 cc non-ionic
contrast at the injection-speed of 4~5 ml per second.
In the whole process of scanning, keep the patient head

(3) Filter
The filter repeat time decides the intensity of the smooth processing. Smooth is
used to higher the post-processing image quality through reducing the noise of
the original dynamic images. Generally 4 is enough. Users can change the
number according to their needs.
Two types of filter are provided: Gauss (suggested) and Mean.
It provides Gray bar, Orientation and Ruler, which show on the images in the

Control bar:
First image and Last image are used to define the starting and ending
position when loading the images. A good time control is helpful with the
perfusion calculation.
The default value of the Interval is 0 second. If the time here is set not longer
than 0 second, the Interval is the real dynamic rotation speed. If the time here
is set longer than 0 second, the Interval is the seconds set here.
The default TDC sample is 1. If too many images to be processed, users can
increase the sample number to higher the processing speed.

“calibration factor” to either reduce or increase the image on the film to true-size.
First, you will measure the scales printed on the film with an actual measuring
scale. If the two scales do not match, you will have to calculate the discrepancy,
and then enter a new calibration factor.
Caution The calibration factor is set at the factor to 1.200. Do not use
this factor unless you have measured the film image and
verified that this value produces the correct size image.
To perform the calibration
1) Load the dental images
2) Print the current images
3) Record the length shown by the ruler of landscape orientation in film as
H1. Record the real length of the ruler of landscape orientation as H2.
4) Record the length shown by the ruler of portrait orientation in film as V1.
Record the real length of the ruler of portrait orientation as V2.
5) Calculate the calibration factor: Factor=(H1/H2+V1/V2)/2
6) Calculate the new calibration factor: NewFactor=OldFactor x Factor. The
OldFactor is the current factor in the system.
7) Replace the OldFactor with the NewFactor.
8) Repeat from step2 to step7 until the real length is equal to that shown in
film.
When to perform the calibration procedure
Calibrate true-size filming:
z if this is the first to use the Dental Planning application
z whenever you measure the scales on the film and find a size error
z whenever the Dental Planning protocol is changed
z after the film format is changed on the imager
z after the imager is serviced
z after a new film printer is installed
