• 9” (22.86cm) square of rainbow faux fur
• 1
⁄3 yd (30.48cm) single-strand sequins
• Paper-back fusible web
• Tear-away stabilizer
• Removable marker

Preparation
1. Trace the unicorn pattern on page 3 onto the paper
side of the fusible web. Rough-cut the shape.
2. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the
web to the wrong side of the white sparkly fabric.
Cut out the unicorn on the marked lines.
Cutting
From the white sparkly fabric, cut:

Assemble the Appliqué
1. Fuse the appliqué to the shirt front in the desired
location.
2. Mark the lines for the eye and nose onto the
appliqué. Using metallic thread and a narrow zigzag,
stitch the eye and nose detail. Using a straight stitch,
sew diagonal lines on the horn.
3. Using a medium-width zigzag, sew around the
unicorn shape.
4. With right sides together, sew the two ear pieces
together, leaving the straight lower edge open. Trim
the seam and clip the corner, then turn the ear right
side out. Press.
5. Turn under the lower ear edge and fold a center
pleat. Hand-stitch the ear lower edge to the unicorn
in the desired location. Do not stitch the entire ear
flat.
6. Hand-stitch two rows of sequins to the lower unicorn
edge.
7. Cut a 11⁄2” (3.81cm) strip of fur across the grain,
cutting only through the backing, not the pile.
Fold the strip in half, matching long raw edges and
whipstitch both edges together to the back and top
of the unicorn, tucking it under the ear. Trim the pile
for the desired look.
8. Because of the fur and sequins, it’s best to gently
hand-wash this shirt.
