UFM
The first of its kind UFM is the most rigorous hydraulic fracture simula-
tion model on the market. This model is primarily developed for naturally
fractured reservoirs to numerically simulate complex fracture networks
using discrete fracture networks (DFN) and 3D mechanical earth mod-
els (MEM). This model takes into account the influence of pre-existing
natural fractures to predict the complex hydraulic fracture geometry
without presumption of its pattern. In addition to the hydraulic fracture-
natural fracture interactions, the UFM also takes into account the
interaction among adjacent hydraulic fracture branches by computing
the “stress shadow” effect on each fracture element by the adjacent
fracture. Showing simulated hydraulic fractures using MLF module in a vertical tight sand
