 1498: Vasco da Gama discovered India

 1651: First English Factory was built up on the banks of river

 1698: East India Company got zamindari rights over three
villages of Bengal (Kalikata, Sutanuti, Govindapur)
 1707: Death of Aurangzeb
 1743: Robert Clive came to Madras from England at the age of
eighteen
 1756: Death of Alivardi Khan
 1757: Battle of Plassey
 1761: Third Battle of Panipat (between Marathas and Durrani
empire of Afghanistan)
 1761-1782: Haidar Ali ruled upon Mysore
 1764: Battle of Buxar; Robert Clive was appointed Governor of

 1782: Tipu Sultan became the ruler of Mysore; End of First

 1785: Tipu Sultan stopped the export of sandalwood, pepper,
and cardamom and disallowed local merchants to trade with
the Company
 1799: Tipu Sultan died defending his capital Seringapatam on 4
May

Nawab of Awadh was forced to give over half of his territory to
