Job Description
Position Title: Spanish Linguist
Reports To: Translation Team Lead
Department: Linguistic - Direct
Location: US (Remote)
Classification: Hourly
Position Summary
The incumbent is a key member of the Operations team and is responsible for translating,
proofreading, and reviewing customer documents from Spanish into English. The linguist may also
be required to assess client linguistic feedback, as well as translations provided by other LLTS
vendors. As an in-house linguistic expert for Spanish into English, the incumbent will serve as a
mentor to the Operations team, and will provide Project Managers with the linguistic feedback
necessary to fulfill all client project deliveries within promised timelines.
The incumbent is expected to exercise initiative, discretion and independent judgment in carrying out
their duties. The Spanish into English Linguist position is critical to the overall success of the
company.
Central to the Spanish into English Linguist’s job description will be ensuring that project
requirements are met and that target translations are delivered on time, within budget, and to
acceptable quality standards. Strong communication skills are essential for dealing concurrently with
the large number of queries and people that are involved in servicing multiple projects and client.
Primary Duties
The primary responsibility of the Spanish into English Linguist is the ability to expertly support all
phases of the translation process from the source text into the target language. During the translation
process, the linguist shall:

 Translate, proofread, and review customer documents from Spanish into English.

 Assess client feedback related to Spanish into English projects and help with direct
remediation where appropriate.

 Assess the translations provided by other LLTS vendors when needed.

 Work directly with the Project Managers to develop a schedule for projects and assure
that adequate communication lines are used during projects.
 Perform other duties as may be assigned by the President, Operations Manager, Director
of Engineering, Solutions Manager or Process Manager.

 Aid LanguageLine sales and production team members in developing terminology


guidelines to guarantee consistency, accuracy, and target-audience acceptability of the
terminology used in the translation process(es).

 Provide management with feedback and recommendations on necessary changes to


streamline and/or improve the company's processes, procedures, and services.

 Support LLTS’ Quality Management System (QMS) to continually improve the


Division’s processes, procedures, and services; and thereby increase efficiency,
productivity, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 At least 5 years of full-time professional experience translating content.

 Advanced proficiency in one of the major translation platforms (Trados, MemoQ,


DéjàVu, WordFast, etc.)

 Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).

 Ability to organize and prioritize workloads.

 Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 Native speaker of US English with good understanding of Spanish from various


countries.

 US-based with no need for visa sponsorship

 Financial and/or Healthcare experience

 Formatting skills a plus.

 MTPE experience a plus.
