JL-3000 For the Mobile Crane Operator’s Manual

1. System Description

The JL-3000 Safe Load Indicator (SLI) system has been designed to provide the essential
information required to operate the machine within its design parameters. It applied to the
safety protection device for boom type hoisting machinery.

Using different sensors, the Safe Load Indicator monitors various crane functions and
provides the operator with a continuous reading of the crane’ s capacity. The readings
continuously change as the crane moves through the motions needed to make the lift. The
SLI provides the operator with information regarding the length and angle of the boom,
working radius, rated load and the current actual load which is lifted by the crane.

If non permitted lifting load are approached, the Safe Load Indicator will warn the
operator by sounding and lighting alarm, And output control signal to cut off the power.

The LMI system operates on the principle of reference/real comparison.The real value,
resulting from the pressure measurement is compared with the reference data, stored in
the central processor memory and evaluated in the micro processor. When limits are
reached, an overload warning signal is generated at the operator’s console. At the same
time, power cut off.

The fixed value regarding the crane, such as load charts, boom, weights, rated load, are
stored in memory chips in the central processor unit. This data is the reference
information used to calculate the operating conditions.

Boom length and boom angle are registered by the length/angle sensor, and crane load is
measured by pressure transducers attached to the piston and rod side of the hoist
cylinders.

2. Warnings

Before operating the crane, the operator must read and understand the information in this
manual carefully and thoroughly to ensure that he knows the operation and limitations of
indicator and crane.

The responsibility for the safe crane operation shall remain with the crane operator, who
shall ensure that all warnings and instructions supplied are fully understood and observed.

The SLI is only an operational aid that warns a crane operator of approaching overload
conditions which could cause damage to equipment and personnel. The device is not, and
shall not, be a substitute for good operator judgment, experience and use of accepted safe
crane operating procedures.

WARNING

The SLI can only work properly if all settings and calibrations are set correctly. To
correct adjustment, the operator has to answer all crane configuration values correctly
asked during setup procedure.

Before operating the crane, you must ensure that the SLI is properly settled and calibrated
to avoid property damage and serious or even fatal accidents.

3.3 Alarm Description

The alarm will appear in the following situations, the operator shall pay attention to safety
working.

Hoisting load is close to or exceed the rated load capacity;

The operating Angle exceeds preset limit value;
The boom length exceeds preset limit value.

Precaution

Followings must be ensured by the operator before calibration.

Raise the hook to the upper limit position and lift the main boom to the minimum radius
limit position (or Keep the boom level with the ground);

Install all parts include load cell, length/angle sensor and anti two-block switches, connect
all cables to the safe load indicator as required.

Power supply for SLI/LMI(DC12~24V.)

Test all signals of load cell, length/angle sensors.

WAD:Load signal value;-- Its value is proportional to the lifting load value;
RAD:Angle signal value;-- Its value is proportional to the value of the boom angle;
LAD:Length signal value. -- Its value is proportional to the length of the boom
telescopic.
