To make arrangements for the speedy and economic collection of cheques, drafts, or other documents payable
or deliverable at or through offices of members of a clearinghouse, clearing services are provided in all big
cities by the state bank of Pakistan or national bank of Pakistan, where state bank has no office.
Types of clearing
Following are the two types of clearing:
 Inward clearing
 Outward clearing

The procedure of inward clearing

The bank’s clearing representative receives instruments drawn on our bank presented by other banks through
the clearinghouse under the clearing schedules. After the receipt of instruments from other banks, the bank’s
representative enters them in the summary sheet under the columns about inward clearing (received).
After comparing the delivery slips with documents received in clearing and verifies the totals. She totals the
receipts in the summary strike a balance showing the net amount due to or from the bank and hands over the
same to the supervisor of the clearing house for authentication.
All instruments received in the inward clearing are entered individually in the inward clearing register and
totaled for counter checking. The instruments received in the inward clearing are also checked on the
following counts:
 The crossing and clearing stamps of the collecting bank have been affixed and the clearing stamp is
correctly dated as of the date of presentation in the clearing.
 The crossing and clearing stamps are of the same bank.
 A specially crossed instrument has been presented by the same bank or its agent.
 Collecting the bank’s discharge is in order.
 Crossing of a bank, other than the collecting is canceled.
 Amount in words and figures
 Signatures and balance

Thereafter instruments are released for posting to the debit of respective accounts, after preparing vouchers
duly signed by two authorized concerned officers. Any instruments to be returned unpaid in the clearing are
returned the same day through the 2nd session of the clearinghouse i.e., 2nd clearing.
The returned instruments are returned along with the cheque returning memo and the reason for returning the
cheque is given on the memo which is signed by an authorized concerned officer. The cheque returned is
entered in the cheques returned register as per columns of the said register. The remarks of returning the
cheque are also given in the remark’s column against the entry of the relevant cheque in the inward clearing
register. In case of insufficient balance, charges as per the effective schedule of charges are recovered from the
drawee’s concerned account.

Procedure for outward clearing

All cheques received for outward clearing to be deposited by the customers are accepted on the bank’s relevant
pay-in-slip duly filled in by the depositor as per printed columns of the pay-in-slip. The depositor writes the
instrument number and the name/branch of the bank drawn on and signs at the prescribed column (deposited
by) for his signature.
Immediately on receipt of the instrument the receiving official of the bank affixes the bank’s crossing and
clearing stamps on the face of the instrument.

Bank’s discharge is given on the back of the instruments. The pay-in-slip is stamped on both parts, with the
clearing stamp dated for the next working day, putting his signatures beneath the stamp. The pay-in-slip along
with the instrument is passed on to the concerned authorized checking officer for his signature on the pay-in-
slip and discharge.
After his signature, the counter-foil is handed over to the depositor.
All instruments received over the counter and from branches for outward clearing are entered in the outward
clearing sheet. All columns of the sheet are filled in for each instrument received for outward clearing. In case
an instrument has been received from any other branch of the bank, the name of the branch is mentioned in the
column for the name of the depositor. At the close of the business total amount of all items entered in the sheet
is worked out and mentioned at the end of the day’s entries.

All instruments received for outward clearing are sorted bank-wise. Bank-wise schedules are prepared in
duplicate and totaled individually. The grand totals of all schedules, amounts, and number of instruments,
must agree with the totals as per the outward clearing sheet. A bank-wise summary of all outward clearing is
prepared as per the bank-wise schedule, on the form, and the total number of instruments; their amount is
mentioned in the relevant printed columns.

This total is cross-checked with the totals as per the outward clearing sheet/ total of bank-wise schedules.
After completing the above formalities vouchers for the outward clearing are prepared and placed, along with
schedules in the outward clearing sheet, before the checking officer for checking, signing bank’s a
discharge/relevant vouchers and schedule(s).

The checking officer ensures that all formalities mentioned before have been duly completed and then releases
the vouchers for posting in the relevant accounts on the next working day. The instruments are presented in the
first clearing the next day in the clearing house by the bank’s clearing representative to another bank’s
representative along with the bank-wise schedule. One copy of the schedule is received back from another
bank's representative after obtaining his acknowledgment.

1.8 CREDIT DEPARTMENT

Credit means advances, loans arranged for worthy customers. In akbl mam Rabia and sir Kashif operating the
credit department.

Forms of lending
Banks generally lend in the form of cash credits, overdrafts, and loans. Banks lend money in the form of ‘clean
advances’ against promissory notes as well as ‘secured advances’ against tangible and marketable securities.
The bankers prefer such securities which do not run the risk of general depreciation due to market fluctuations.
Common securities for the banker’s advances are as under:
 Pledge
 Hypothecation
 Guarantees
 Indemnity

Pledge
In the pledge, the ownership remains with the pledger, but the pledgee has the exclusive possession of the
property until the advance is repaid in full, while in case of default the pledge has the power of sale after giving
due notice.

Hypothecation
When the property in the goods is charged as security for a loan from the bank but the ownership and
possession are left with the borrower, the goods are said to be hypothecated.

Guarantees
When an applicant for an advance cannot offer any tangible security, the banker may rely on personal
guarantees to protect himself against loss on advances or overdraft to the applicant.

Indemnity
A contract by which one party promises to save the other from loss caused to him by the conduct of the
promisor himself or by any other person is called a contract of indemnity.
Classification of credit facilities
The credit facilities extended by the bank are classified as: -
1. Funds based.
2. Non-funded.

Funds based credit facilities

In such types of facilities, the bank provides finance to its customers. Askari commercial bank makes
numerous types of funds-based advances to its customers.
a few important advances are discussed below.
1) Running finance
2) Cash finance
3) Term finance

Running finance
It is allowed to the borrower under a pre-sanctioned limit. A current account is opened and the conduct of this
account is kept under review for a period of three to six months. The borrower can draw cheques on his
current account but maximally up to the amount of limit sanctioned to him. The amount outstanding against
the borrower is shown as a debit in the account for a partial amount. The markup is charged based on daily
products of the amount outstanding.

Cash finance
This type of finance is allowed to the borrower against the hypothecation or pledge of the moveable
property/stock of the borrower. In the majority of cases, this finance is allowed against the pledge of stock
(cash crops). The amount of finance is credited to the borrower's special finance account and he/she utilizes it
for business purposes. For this account, a separate checkbook is issued to the borrower.

Term finance
It is a loan account opened in the name of the borrower. The amount of finance is credited to the borrower’s
account by debiting the term finance account. The amount of finance is distributed in a lump sum. The
repayment of term finance is usually in installments and besides other documents, a letter of installments is
taken from the borrower at the time of disbursement. By that letter, the borrower binds himself to pay the
installments at regular intervals. The number of installments includes the principal plus markup for the
repayment period.

Contingent non-fund based facilities

In such types of facilities, the bank provides only guarantees to third parties on behalf of its customers.
Types of non-funded credit facilities:
I. Letter of credit
II. Letter of guarantee

Letter of credit
A letter of credit as the name signifies does one person or bank to another requesting the letter to pay any
amount of money up to a certain limit to the person write a letter named in the letter or in whose favor the letter

The need for remittance is commonly felt in commercial life particularly and in everyday life generally. The
main function of the remittance department is to transfer money from one place to another. By providing these
services to the customer, the bank earns a lot of money. Also, customers become able to meet its day-to-day
financial requirements. This department deals with the local currency transfer only. Akbl provides these
services to both customers and non-customers.
1.10 INSTRUMENTS OF REMITTANCE DEPARTMENT
The remittance department's main function is to transfer money from one place to another. The remittance
department deals with the following instruments to transfer money from one place to another place;

2 SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS
Askari bank is a sound financial institution in Pakistan with considerably high good well. It is because of the
following strengths:
 Customers’ loyalty is a key to success in every organization, and this is also the strength of askari bank
limited.
 Askari bank has a very broad network and branches which makes people's access easy and convenient.
 Askari bank focusing on trade financing: it attaches great significance to the development or
maintenance of healthy correspondence relationships with other banks and financial institutions.

 A high credit rating by askari is a great strength for the askari bank.

WEAKNESSES

Here is nothing in the world which is perfect. So, the same is the case with askari bank it carries some
weaknesses.
 Askari bank is falling a lot behind in media for its marketing as compared with others HBL, UBL,
MCB, ALFALAH, AND SCB.
 During my internship, I observed some of the employees burdened with overwork, which I think should
be distributed according to their posts and capabilities.
 The Bank has very little staff in this branch as compared to upper Punjab. This creates problems
employees have spent most of their time in the bank to complete their routine work. For this reason,
their normal life is disturbing which creates irritation in the behaviors of employees
OPPORTUNITIES
 With the changing of e-banking, the askari bank has the opportunity to offer new options and different
ion from other banks.
 Askari bank can design a universal account like another foreign bank for online facilities.
 offering the Islamic banking system is a great opportunity to get new customers and touching the height
of success.
 Huge demand for consumer financing in our country offers a great opportunity.

THREATS
 The current political position is one of the major threats.
 The bad governance of the government is also a threat for askari.
 New introducing banks are also a threat for askari just like Faysal, soneri, JS Bank, etc.…
 A high rate of inflation is also a threat to bank

has been commenced and the advent of ATMs at strategic places has been firmed up.
RECOMMENDATIONS

Besides taking care of the above-mentioned problems there are some recommendations which can be
advised to the bank, which can be helpful for the bank:
1. Employees should be given a course of training from time to time or they can also use them on the job
training method. Training can be done in the following areas
 Better training of employees in the communication skills area

is increasing and new recruitments are compulsory

4 Summary

Engaging in community service provides students with the opportunity to become active
members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community
service or volunteerism enables students to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide
a service to those who need it most. Participating in community service not only makes a
difference to the organization and people being served but also makes a difference to everyone’s
career prospects. Participating in community service activities helps to enhance student resumes
by allowing students to obtain work-related skills before graduation, builds good references for
employers in regards to community involvement, and provides a forum to network with future
potential employers. It also helps one develop civic and social responsibility skills and become
more aware of what their community needs.
I and my class fellows select the SHAAFI WELFARE ORGANIZATION it was a good
experience to serve the community. Our journey was around 4 days. Al Raaziq is a project in
Ramadan. My 1 day 21 march 2021 with SHAAFI WELFARE ORGANIZATION at Jaffar
Chowk, g11/2. Due to covid, we follow the sops. And distribute iftar by hand. . And other 3 days
on Eid we distribute the meat.
Shaafi Welfare Organization is serving the community in many ways. Running AL-Raaziq
Dastarkhwan during the whole year for the provision of food for people, who are suffering from
hunger. Also educating the community by conducting awareness seminars in remote areas of
Pakistan
5 Introduction:

providing them with exemplary health care, education, and awareness. Its program component
includes the establishment of hospitals, health care centres, promoting education, and creating

The SWO has been helping the people through the provisions of awareness, medical treatment,

Persons with diseases through its dedicated facility known as Shaafi Medical Complex,
established in 2020 and currently located at Khaigala, Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir. The medical
and rehabilitation services offered to the suffering patients are free of cost for deserving and
needy people, and they are provided 24/7 at SMC. The services are provided mostly to the
people in severe pain and diseases, and especially to those who cannot afford to pay for their
treatment and rehabilitation. A nominal fee is charged to patients who can afford to pay.
The SMC under the aegis of SWO has been serving People mainly from Rawalakot and the
surrounding areas, but its doors remain open to every deserving patient from any part of
Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu& Kashmir (AJK) on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Owing to the dearth of financial resources, SMC has been operating in rented buildings ever
since its inception.

Future Plans

For materializing the program components, the Trust aims at launching its multifaceted
transformational project namely, SHAAFI MEDICAL COMPLEX AND REHABILITATION
CENTRE. The objective of the project is twofold:
1) Eradication of Illiteracy and disabilities by 2025.
2) Provision of Free Rehabilitation by creating a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center in SMC.

The SWO has been receiving numerous requests from the households of the poor and ill people,
especially of young children for the provision of a full-fledged tertiary care hospital and a
rehabilitation center with research and medical training facilities. Many individuals and a few
businesses and large corporations also have been forthcoming for discharging their corporate
social responsibilities by helping the Trust with donations in case there is required land available
for the construction of necessary facilities.

The project aims at establishing large tertiary care hospitals in different districts of the country
focusing on education, awareness; diagnosis; treatment; rehabilitation services; and a complete
medical regime for the People without discriminating their age, ethnicity, gender, and religious
orientation. To ensure the viability of such services in remote areas, the availability of a suitable
plot in any of the commercially developed Sectors, easily accessible to people, deems crucial.

Concerted efforts are underway to approach the Government of Ajk for the allotment of a plot
where all the above-mentioned facilities could be established.
3) Activity

I had 4 days of experience

We take part in different events and project

1ST DAY
I have taken part of project al-raziq dasterkhan AT G11/2.I distribute the iftari with sops. the
day was a little tough because we are with fasting also but this activity teaches us how the hunger
people feel
.
2nd,3rd, and 4th day
I have taken part in project Eid-ul-azha as team leader. We distribute the meat to needy and poor
people who are not afforded the qurbni.
And others activities are distributing gifts and dresses to needy children.
After all this, I felt that peace inside me.
4) SUGGESTIONS

There are some suggestions we would like to state for foundation

• SWO should develop their efficient managing skills to improve service quality.

• Duty should be assigned to a person to keep in the record of the goods available
in stock to prevent misuse which is bought for good purpose.

• SWO is not using proper social media platforms, for funds awareness. They can
do this by advertising campaigns like other welfare centers.

• The Government of Pakistan should focus and help welfare centers by providing
those funds.

• To enhance public participation SWO should be clear that it will invest its funds
in foresaid work. This way they can gain more trust of people hence more funds.
5) CONCLUSION

It’s not an activity for just report. I have defiantly learned how to be more patient, more
empathetic, and to be more understanding. All of us have some responsibilities regarding
society, we should serve them up to our worth.
SWO is a great welfare center for its activity’s performance in the holy month of Ramadan and
during Eid. They took their time to help the poor’s and celebrate Eid with them. I would
recommend others to take part in this good deed monetarily or by taking part in person. I can
tell that they are trying their best to serve the poor and orphans. During this participation of
work, I learned patience, love for the poor and humanity, and most of all understanding them. I
remembered a quote “Put yourself in other shoes to understand them better” but I think this
activity helped me understand this better. We can help orphans and more organizations by
providing them funds and also encouraging others to take part in this.
