2.0 SCOPE
The scope of this method statement is to define the procedure that will be implemented for the
installation of feeder pillar with accessories and GRP meter cabinet. It includes the identification of
location, excavation, cables terminations, connections and erection/installation of foundation and
feeder pillar and meter cabinet along with earthing connections and backfilling as per the standard,
specified, issued drawings or as instructed by the Engineer. This procedure be executed for project:
2023/57 Improvement of Al Khor St., Umm Al Quwain.

He shall be overall responsible for safe execution of the complete activity including, but not limited to:
a) Organizing tools and equipment required to the work site.

a) Ensure all P & M Equipment being used for the activity are in good working condition.
b) Ensure P & M Operators are qualified & authorized to operate the relevant equipment.
c) Ensure the work area shall be barricaded.
d) The toolbox talk shall be carried out before starting the work.
e) Ensure all necessary PPEs are worn by workers involved in the work.
f) Work shall be carried out in the daytime and if authorized, night work is permitted.
g) All sub-contractor men, material, machinery details to be collected and checked against insurance.
h) No work shall be allowed if temperature is more than 50 degree Celsius / high wind / more than 80%
humidity / inclement weather due to rain, lighting storm, fog or dark condition.

work

7.0 SAFETY
All work forces to be involved in execution of the cable laying shall undergo safety induction training
before starting the site activities. Prior to the commencement of any activities, the workforce will
receive an induction talk on the project site safety requirements.
The necessary permits that may be required to work near existing services will be obtained. Any
special conditions imposed upon these permits will be implemented.
The use or restriction of specific Electrical & mechanical equipment, while locating or excavating near
the existing cables and other services will be implemented. M/s. Base General Contracting Co. LLC
shall be responsible for all activities and interfaces related to this project.

8.0 PROCEDURE
The proposed location of the feeder pillar with accessories and GRP meter cabinet will be identified &
marked as per the approved work shop drawing or IFC drawing or as instructed by the Engineer prior
to start the excavations in order to identify the existing obstructions if any and to rearrange accordingly.
The width and depth of the trench will be carried out as per the requirement according to the size of
Feeder Pillar and Meter Cabinet Foundations and as per the regulation of authority requirement.
The Feeder Pillar and Meter Cabinet foundation will be made as per the Client’s specification and
requirements.
After completion of foundation installation, the Feeder Pillar and/or meter cabinet will be shifted
carefully near to the respective foundations and placed in a clean, dry place without touching sand, soil
and salty moisture content.
The next activity glanding will be done for the respective cables to be terminated.
Before installation of box, the required permits shall be obtained by the Electrical Engineer and NOC
Officer. The site will be checked in order to confirm that the necessary safety measures have been
done.
Feeder pillar and/or meter cabinet will be installed according to the requirement and with the applicable
safety methods as advised.
Trench excavation shall be done as per approved diagram with proper supervision of civil team.
The XLPE/Cu/Armored cable will be laid as per approved or issued drawings. Keep sufficient cable
loop on both to make termination as per FEWA standard specification & requirement.
The cable will be backfilled as per standard or issued drawings.
Earthing will be connected between the poles and circuit as per the standards and specifications.
After completion of feeder pillar and/or GRP meter cabinet erection, cable terminations and earthing
works, levelling will be done as per line, length and orientation.
Once the earthing and levelling works are completed, the activity of feeder pillar and/or meter cabinet
installation is completed and ready for energization.
