Difficulty: Intermediate
This pattern is made for those, who knows basics of crochet,
knows what Magic Ring, Decrease and Increase are, and how to
sew details together. If you don’t know it, watch Youtube videos
first, or learn about crocheting, and try to crochet basic stitches
and sew some crocheted details together!
Terms Used:
ML – Magic Loop
sc – Single Crochet
slst – Slip Stitch
dec – Decrease
inc – Increase
ch – Chain
dc – Double Crochet
BLO – Back Loops Only
About: you are going to make adorable amigurumi owl! If
you will use the similar yarn and hook size, your toy will be 4.7 in
= 12 cm tall.
You will need:
Yarn for crocheting (I am mentioning the
brands and colors I used (characteristics of
the yarn you can see in the picture), you can
use your favorite yarn)
 Alize Cotton Gold color 493 – dark
brown
 Alize Cotton Gold color 02 – dark
yellow
 YarnArt Jeans color 62 – white
 YarnArt Jeans color 53 - black
 YarnArt Jeans color 07 – light
brown
Crochet hook N2 = 2 mm
Fiberfill
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Pins
Stitch marker (I use approx. 2 in = 5 cm long contrasting color
yarn)

Crochet in spiral using dark brown yarn.
R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: inc * 6 = 12 sc
R3: (1sc, inc) * 6 = 18 sc
R4: (2sc, inc) * 6 = 24 sc
R5: (3sc, inc) * 6 = 30 sc
R6: (4sc, inc) * 6 = 36 sc
R7: (5sc, inc) * 6 = 42 sc
R8: (6sc, inc) * 6 = 48 sc
R9 – R10: 48 sc
R11: (7sc, inc) * 6 = 54 sc
R12 – R13: 54 sc
R14: (8sc, inc) * 6 = 60 sc
R15 – R16: 60 sc
R17: (9sc, inc) * 6 = 66 sc
R18 – R27: 66 sc
R28: (9sc, dec) * 6 = 60 sc
R29: (8sc, dec) * 6 = 54 sc
R30: (7sc, dec) * 6 = 48 sc
R31: (6sc, dec) * 6 = 42 sc
Begin stuffing.
R32: (5sc, dec) * 6 = 36 sc
R33: (4sc, dec) * 6 = 30 sc
R34: (3 sc, dec) * 6 = 24 sc
R35: (2sc, dec) * 6 = 18 sc
R36: (1sc, dec) * 6 = 12 sc
Finish stuffing.
R37: dec * 6 = 6 sc
Finish crochet, hide the yarn
tails.

Crochet in rows using light brown yarn.


R1: 14 ch + 1 turning ch
R2 – R6: 14 sc + 1 turning ch
R7: dec, 10 sc, dec + 1 turning ch
R8: dec, 8 sc, dec + 1 turning ch
R9: dec, 6 sc, dec + 1 turning ch
R10: dec, 4 sc, dec + 1 turning ch
Now we will work all around the piece.
R11: inc in the corner
stitch, 7 sc, inc in the
corner stitch, 12 sc, inc
in the corner stitch, 7
sc, inc in the corner
stitch, 5 sc, slst

Finish crochet, leaving 30 – 35


cm long yarn tail for sewing
tummy to the body.

Crochet in spiral using dark brown yarn.


R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: inc * 6 = 12 sc
R3: (1sc, inc) * 6 = 18 sc
R4: (2sc, inc) * 6 = 24 sc
R5: (3sc, inc) * 6 = 30 sc
R6: (4sc, inc) * 6 = 36 sc
R7: fold the wing in halves and crochet 18 sc through the both
sides
R8: (ch 3, in the second ch of the hook make 1 sc, in the next ch
1 sc, sl st in the wing) * 18

Finish crochet, leaving 20 – 25 cm long yarn tail for sewing the
wings. Make the second wing.

Crochet in spiral using dark yellow


yarn.
R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: (1sc, inc) * 3 = 9 sc
R3: 9 sc
Finish crochet, leaving 15 – 20 cm long yarn tail for sewing beak
to the face. Do not stuff it.

Crochet in spiral using dark brown yarn.


R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: inc * 6 = 12 sc
R3 – R4: 12 sc
Finish crochet, leaving 20 – 25 cm long yarn tail for sewing ears
to the head. Make the second ear. Now take the light brown yarn,
cut 4 yarn tails each aprrox. 7 cm long. Take 2 and tight them to
the endings of the ear. Even the endings. Make the second ear.
Crochet in spiral using black
yarn.
R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: inc * 6 = 12 sc
Change the yarn to the dark
yellow and crochet by rows.
R3: slst, (1sc, inc) * 3, 2 slst – cut the yarn
Change the yarn to the white one.

R4: connect the yarn to the


first stitch of the R3, slst, inc of sc, inc of dc * 5, inc of sc, slst –
cut the yarn
Continue to work with the
white yarn.

R5: connect the yarn to the last stitch of R2, 2 slst, 1 sc, (1sc, inc
of sc) * 5, 1 sc, 4 slst – cut the yarn leaving 15 – 20 cm long yarn
tail for making the light reflection in the eye
Change the yarn to the light brown and continue to work in spiral.
R6: work in spiral BLO, (2 sc,
inc) * 9 = 36 sc
R7: work full stitch, 36 sc
Finish crochet, cut 35 – 40 cm
long yarn tail for sewing eye to
the head. Make the second
eye. Tight all the ends in the
knots, embroider the light
reflection.

Crochet in spiral using dark yellow yarn.


R1: 6 sc in ML
R2: inc * 6 = 12 sc
R3: (1 sc, inc) * 6 = 18 sc
R4: 18 sc
R5: (1 sc, dec) * 6 = 12 sc
R6: 12 sc
R7: fold the leg in halves and crochet 6 sc through both sides
Finish crochet, leaving 20 – 25 cm long yarn tail for sewing legs to
the body. Make the second leg.

Crochet in rows using black yarn.


R1: ch 11
R2 – R11: 10 sc + 1 turning ch
Leave the loop open, cut the yarn. Make the second piece.
Place them one on another and crochet through the both pieces
R12: 3 sc in the last stitch of
R11, 8 sc, 3 sc in the corner
stitch, 8 sc, 3 sc in the corner
stitch, 8 sc, 3 sc in the corner
stitch, 8 sc, slst
Crochet in rows using black yarn.
R1: ch 5
R2 – R25: 4 sc + 1 turning ch (do not make the turning ch in the
last row R25)
R26: fold the piece in halves and
crochet 4 sc through the both sides

Finish crochet, cut 30 – 35 cm long yarn tail for sewing cap


together and sewing it to the head.
Sew the bottom part of the cap to the upper one.
For making the tassel I am using
thin golden yarn thread. Cut 3 yarn
tails, each one approx. 11 cm long.
Make a big knot at one end – this
knot will secure the tassel in the
cap. Then make 5 cm braid.
Secure it with the knot. With the
needle pull the braid through the
cap, leaving the big knot inside it.
You can sew as well. Even the ends of the tassel.

Now let`s start to sew all the details


together. Sew the tummy between R20
and R30 of the body. Sew the beak
between R15 and R19 of the body.
Sew the legs between R32 and R34 of
the body.
Sew R6 of the eyes between R7
and R18 of the body.
Sew the ears between R5 and
R9 of the body.

Sew the wings between R16


and R18 of the body.
Sew the cap between the ears.
CONGRATULATIONS – YOUR
GRADUATION OWL AMIGURUMI IS
DONE!

If you want to personalize your owl or to add a note to it, here is


my tip how you can do it.
Take needed size of the cardboard, write a message on it. We
need to protect it from the dust or water, here we will use
transparent adhesive tape. Take the bigger size, it should cover
all the note.
Stick the note to the tape. Stick the rest of the tape to the back of
the note, making sure it is totally covered. Cut the unneeded parts
at the sides. Now with the sharp needle make small holes in the
sides of the note and sew it to the wings! Now your gift is
personalized!
