 OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

SWIVEL BASE

a. To unlock base pull handle out (fig. 2A), turn

stand (fig. 2B) to desired position. Always lock
swivel when in use.

b. To lock base push handle in until the snaps locked.

If handle does not go in easely, turn stand while
pushing on handle, it will snap in when the locks
are aligned.

c. Always remember to lock the stand in a straight

position when in transport. If the stand does not
line up straight with the base turn the unit 180
degrees then lock it. There is only one position
where the stand will lock straight.

TENSION BRAKE

a. Before using tension brake (fig. 10) be sure that

the reel stand has a sure footing and is anchored
down to the surface on which it sits.

b. Turn crank handle (fig. 1L) clockwise to tighten

brake pressure on the brake and counter clockwise
to loosen pressure on the brake.

RETRIEVER DRIVE

a. Before using retriever drive be sure that the reel

stand has a sure footing and is anchored down to
the surface on which it sits.

b. Connect hydraulic supply and return lines to the

hydraulic quick disconnects.

c. To pull cable move lever (fig. 2C) to the "Take Up"

position, and to let cable out move lever to the
"Pay Out" position.

LOADING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Loading directions:

a. Position stand so that forklift or crane can be

easily positioned.

b. Position reel drive pin assembly (fig. 1A) so that

the lifting eye (fig. 1B) and removable pin are in
the top position and apply brake (fig. 1C).

c. Remove retaining pin (fig. 1D & 1E) from both the

reel drive pin assembly and the dumb end of the
mandrel shaft pocket.

d. Remove mandrel shaft (fig. 1F) from the reel stand

by lifting straight up.

e. Remove nylatron bearing (fig. 1G) from dumb end of

the mandrel shaft.

f. Remove locking collar (fig. 1H) and centering cone

(fig. 1J).

g Insert mandrel shaft into the reel all the way to

the drive pin assembly, be sure to insert drive
pins (fig. 1K) into reel correctly.

h. Install locking collar onto the mandrel shaft. If

needed, use reel centering cone. Be sure to set the
reel tight against the drive pin assembly.

i. Replace nylatron bearing onto dumb end of mandrel

shaft.

Lift reel with forklift or crane making sure that

the drive pin assembly has the lifting eye on the
top for correct fit with brake assembly.

k. Insert reel into the stand by indexing drive pin

assembly from above and lower into place.

1. Insert retaining pins into both the drive pin

assembly and the dumb end of the shaft pocket.
