To maintain the facility and all mechanical plant, production equipment and services, by a

combination of ‘hands on’ engineering and co-ordinating and leading a multi-disciplined


Maintenance Team.

Responsibilities

 To supervise and provide technical support to maintenance craftsmen on a daily basis.

 To ensure the department operates with due regard to current legislation, company and
statutory requirements.

 Ensure the safe and efficient operation of mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment


throughout the site.

 Identify areas in which engineering improvements can be made to increase Quality,


Efficiency or Safety.

 Provide technical assistance to the Manufacturing Engineers regarding equipment &


services.

 Assist in the specification of plant, equipment and machinery .

 Carry out installation, commissioning, breakdown analysis and repair of plant and
equipment.

 Assist with the specification of alternative spares & advise on potential cost savings on
procurement of spares & services.

 Operate and maintain the Building Management System.

 Operate the CMMS system and ensure that all work carried out by the department is
recorded.

 Ensure that all scheduled planned maintenance is carried out and the system is updated as
necessary.

 Supervise Maintenance and Cleaning Contractors working within the department and
authorise timesheets. Ensure that they work safely and their performance is reviewed
against written agreements.

 Ensure that all insurance and regulatory requirements are met including, frequent
operation and testing of Fire Pumps, Fire alarms, standby diesel alternators, AHU filter
efficiencies etc.
 Ensure that equipment downtime due to both preventative and corrective maintenance is
minimised.

 Liaise with production management and supervision to prioritise and arrange both
preventative and breakdown maintenance.

 Expected to lead through lean events.
