IMPACTS OF POVERTY ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE
STUDENTS IN ST. PAUL’S ACADEMY
This research seeks to determine the effect of poverty on the academic
performance of students in St. Paul’s Academy of Inabanga, Bohol, Inc.
Specifically, this research aims to answer the following research questions:
1. What is the demographic profile of the participants in terms of:
1.1 age,
1.2 sex,
2. What are the possible causes and the effects of poverty?
3. What are the effects of poverty on student’s academic performance in
St. Paul’s Academy?
4. What factors contribute to low academic performance?
5. Does the economic status of parents have an impact on academic
performance of their children in St. Paul’s Academy?

Many studies have been conducted about the impacts of poverty on academic
performance of the students. I would like to know if poverty really affects the
students’ performance in terms of academics. To know what are the factors may
affect the performance of the students.

Methodology / Design:
Economic and Political Distortions
This study will utilize the descriptive survey design. The case study allows the
researchers to explore through detailed, at collection involving multiple sources
of information such as interview, observations and questionnaires. The design is
adopted descriptive survey approach with respect to the sampling techniques,
data collection methods, reliability and validity research intsruments.
