Rules and Mechanics for 600m Baton Relay:

1. Team Composition:

 Each team consists of four runners.

 Teams must designate the order in which their runners will participate.

2. Baton Passing Zone:

 A designated 120-meter zone (or as specified) will be marked on the track for baton
exchanges.

 Runners must pass the baton within this zone.

3. Starting Position:

 Runners must start from their designated lanes.

 The first runner of each team starts in a staggered position in their respective lanes.

4. Baton Exchange:

 Baton exchanges must occur within the designated zone.

 The baton must be handed from one runner to another; throwing the baton is not
allowed.

 Both runners must have at least one foot within the exchange zone during the pass.

5. Illegal Baton Transfer:

 If a baton is dropped, the runner who dropped it may retrieve it and continue the race.
However, retrieving the baton outside the exchange zone may result in disqualification.

6. False Starts:

 False starts will result in disqualification for the entire team.

 Only one false start is allowed per team; subsequent false starts lead to disqualification.

7. Lane Infringements:

 Runners must stay within their assigned lanes during the race.

 If a runner steps on or over the lane boundary, it may lead to disqualification.

8. Finishing:

 The anchor (last) runner of each team completes the race by crossing the finish line
within their designated lane.

9. Winning:

 The team whose anchor runner crosses the finish line first is declared the winner.
10. Protests:

 Teams may file protests within a specified time frame after the race, citing violations of
the rules.

 Protests will be reviewed by race officials, and decisions will be final.

11. Substitutions:

 Teams may substitute a runner due to injury before the race begins. Once the race
starts, no substitutions are allowed.

12. Uniforms:

 Runners must wear appropriate athletic attire.

 Uniforms must be consistent within each team.

13. Officials:

 Race officials will monitor the race, enforce the rules, and make final decisions on any
disputes.

14. Timing:

 Accurate electronic timing systems will be used to record each team's overall time.

15. Points:

1st team to finish will gain 20 points


2nd team to finish will gain 15 points
3rd team to finish will gain 10 points
and runner up will garner 5 points for the overall ranking.
