Who will benefit the most sa study?

Geriatric Nurses. Kasi through this study, we will find out yung mga risk factors na kailangan nilang
antabayanan, also yung mga interventions na maaari nilang iadapt. This will lead to better and efficient
patient care na idedeliver nila.

Importance ng study/Why did you conduct this study/Main objectives

We chose this topic because we want to contribute towards creating a sustainable solution for the aging
population. Mahalaga ‘tong study na ‘to especially ngayon that in the Philippines, we are expecting an
aging population by the next few years. Mas marami na ang population ng mga adult over age 65. That’s
why it is very important na ngayon pa lang we make fall prevention strategies na evidence-based.

Limitations

Ang nakita naming limitations ay sa una, sa literature. As mentioned on our manuscript, after searching
through different databases, we only found 1 local study that tackles patient safety culture in geriatric
institution in the Philippines. This is by Villaverde in 2019. ABOUT SAAN STUDY NIYA. Yung study
niya is about sa compliance ng nursing home facilities sa DOH Hospital Building Code. Kung safe ba for
elderly patients yung internal design and architecture nung facility. He found out na walang adequately
prepared sa fire hazard. Pangalawa, dahil nga yung prior studies ay from different countries, we
discovered cultural differences din. Some of the variables ay hindi applicable sa Pilipinas. For example,
putting restraints na hindi naman available dito sa Philippines.

Why did you conduct your study?

Nung una po we looked over trends in healthcare in the Philippines. And we found geriatrics is one of
them because the Philippines will be expecting an aging population for the next few years. Kaya po
namin naisip na there is a great need to evaluate geriatric nurse practices. Then to be specific, pinili namin
‘yung falls since isa ito sa nakikita naming possible risk of staying sa nursing homes.

Bakit Mixed-Method? Bakit exploratory sequential?

Upon looking for related literatures po kasi, we found out that there is a scarcity in local literatures
regarding geriatric nursing. Kaya po we decided na magconduct ng mixed method specifically
exploratory sequential wherein magkoconduct muna kami ng in-depth interview for us to better
understand the lived experiences of geriatric nurses and then tsaka po kami magkoconduct ng survey to
obtain quantifiable data in a larger population.

Disadvantage ng Mixed-method

Time and resources consuming siya. Since nagconduct kami ng qualitative and quantitative, madaming
nakain na oras and resources.

Nareach niyo ba yung goal niyo? Nasagot ba ng paper niyo yung research qs niyo?

We can say yes. Because by the end of our study, nasagot namin lahat ng general and specific research
questions namin. And we believe that this can be a guide not just for geriatric nurses but also for staff
nurses when it comes to dealing with elderly patients. We were able to find important risk factors na
kailangang antabayanan ng mga nurses as well as appropriate interventions na maari nilang iadapt.

Proof na nameet ng participants yung criteria

For the qualitative, we asked them kung may experience na sila and they answered yes. Audio recorded
naman siya. For the quantitative, the head of the facility was aware of the criteria and then siya yung nag-
sala ng nurses nila na pasok sa criteria before sending the link of the survey. May screenshot po kami of
the conversation as proof.
