TITLE:
Testing the Fire Detection and Alarm System (FDAS)

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:
Perform the functional testing of the installed FDAS based on Philippine Electrical Code
guidelines.
SUPPLIES/ MATERIALS:
● Installed FDAS
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT:
● Matches
● Heat gun
STEPS/ PROCEDURE:
1. Wear your PPEs
2. Test the FDAS manually. Open the fire alarm control panel then press the reset button.
3. Push the “PRESS HERE” button of the manual call point. The output device should be
activated.
4. Test the functionality of the input devices.
5. Locate your smoke detector. Hold out a smoking material under the smoke detector. If
the smoke was able to trigger an alarm, that means the smoke detector is operational.
6. Turn off the alarm by holding down the Test button for around 15 seconds.
7. Locate your heat detector. Trigger the heat detector by using a heat gun. If it activates
the alarm, the heat detector is operational.
8. Turn off the alarm by holding down the Test button for around 15 seconds.
9. When testing is completed, notify your supervisor about the result of the testing.
10. Perform the 5S of Good Housekeeping. Clean up the whole area from debris and other
waste materials.
