Executive Summary
The 34th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is
embarking on a transformative journey to rebirth the NSE for the
growth, empowerment, and advancement of engineering in
Nigeria. This strategic agenda is named MOPSA (Margaret
Oguntala Presidential Strategic Agenda). Altogether, there is 1
Strategic Agenda, 5 Strategic Themes (Pillars), and 34 Strategic
Actions (The Elements).
The first pillar or theme is Membership Development. This focuses
on upskilling our esteemed members, offering Mandatory
Professional Development to keep them at the forefront of
knowledge. This will involve a significant budget allocation to
ensure quality training and resources.
The second pillar will involve the NSE actively engaging with
intergovernmental bodies, industries, and academia to foster
partnerships that drive progress, innovation, and knowledge
exchange. Initiatives such as intergovernmental roundtables that
will take place under this theme will facilitate dialogue and
collaboration.
The third theme, International Relation, aims to strengthen global
ties. The NSE will collaborate with leading international
engineering organizations and foreign missions to gain access to
resources and opportunities for our members.
The fourth theme, Community Impact, underscores the
commitment to use engineering expertise to address societal
challenges. Advocating for Vocational Science, Technology,

Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (V-STEAM) education is a key
initiative to empower future leaders.
Lastly, the NSE will reimage itself to be the voice of engineers and
the engineering profession. Initiatives such as product/services
endorsement and industry/academia project facilitation will
contribute to this objective.
Together, these strategic priorities will strengthen the NSE and
enable it to empower its members, create opportunities, and
position NSE as a formidable force for engineering progress in
Nigeria and on the global stage.
Fundamentally, MOPSA aims to fortify NSE's position as a
prominent voice for engineers and the engineering profession. It's
a roadmap that envisions unity, empowerment, and progress
within the NSE and the engineering community as a whole.
MOPSA’s full implementation will be heralded with an all-
important retreat for the new Executive Committee (ExCo) and the
Secretariat Leadership Team immediately after the President’s
investiture for alignment and commitment on the strategic
agenda.
Together, we shall engineer a brighter future.

that is taking minerals out of our State should
also mine the mineral there. When you go mining
lithium, indirectly you are mining all the associated

Service to humanity! I have been

so proud that I am a villager, where
we had no electricity as at the time
I was very young. Pipe borne water
was a luxury way back then. Luckily

I eventually secured a scholarship to

to my humble background, I see no
reason why I will not contribute my

the rural areas have suffered so much
from the activities of the insurgents.
They had their properties destroyed,
so many of them were displaced. About
2.5 million people were displaced.
