1. CALCULATION OBJECTIVE
The objective of this calculation is to determine the correct sizing expansion
loop of piping due to thermal expansion by operational temperature change.

2. GENERAL INFORMATION
Equipment name = Hot Oil Pipe
Tag number = C-201
P&ID refference = SSG-RA-DF1-G5-2024

3. PROCESS DATA
3.1 Fluid Data

4. CALCULATION
Calculation are started by determine linear expansion of the pipe. Following formula
are used :

Δ𝐿=α𝐿∆𝑇

After piping growth in length due to thermal expansion, the length of piping loop are
calculated by following formula :

𝑊+2𝐻=√(3𝐸𝑂𝐷Δ𝐿/𝑆)

Piping expansion growth ΔL 12.6 mm


Piping loop length W+2H = 6 meter

5. RESULT
With above equations, following results are obtained :

W to H ratio (0,5-0,75) W/H = 0.50


W distance W = 1.2 meter
H distance H = 2.4 meter
