Gold Cup P24/P30
New Double Lip Shaft Seal for 7, 8, 9 Shafts
A new one-piece dual seal is being
introduced to replace the two-piece
seal arrangement used with our
number 7, 8, and 9 shaft options
(double lip shaft seal) for the
P24- and P30-size Gold Cup pumps.
Simpler Design
This new, simpler design provides
easier installation and is not rotation
direction dependant (as is the old
two-piece design). Most often, the
double lip shaft seal option is used in
conjunction with our educator system,
which helps reduce external seal
leakage by drawing a slight vacuum
between the seals, carrying any
leakage back to the case of the pump.
These are quite popular on the P24S
and P30S Series Gold Cup pumps used
by Hagglunds for their drives systems.
Conversion
The new (one-piece) and old (two-
piece) designs are interchangeable and

allow for field repair and replacement.
However, when converting to the
new one-piece dual seal, a new seal
retainer, snap ring, and two o-rings
will also be needed. To simplify
matters, we now include these items
as part of the shaft seal kits (see “Dual
Seal” chart below for part numbers).
Also note that we no longer have a
CW and CCW kit as the new one-
piece dual seal accommodates either
direction of rotation.
Seal Kit/Retainer
Of further note, the seal kit and seal
retainer needed will depend on the
type of bearing used in the pump. Our
standard units with 7, 8, and 9 shaft
options use a spherical roller bearing
while many of the Hagglunds units
are modified (M2 numbers) with a
tapered roller bearing. All pumps with
modifications have the potential of
having either type bearing. To help

used, the overall seal dimensions are
provided in the chart.
Support
During the month of July, a running
change will be implemented
and all P24 and P30 units with the
shaft options described above will
be assembled with the new
one-piece dual seal arrangement.
We will continue to support your field
service and repair business with a
limited supply of the old type seals
(see “Old New” illustration below
for part numbers). Once these seals
are depleted, field conversions or
repairs can be accomplished by
using the new seal kits described
