Solid Surface Casting Procedure from LMR 8000

Starting formulation for Acrylic solid surface:

 ATH= 62%
 Acrylic Resin= 38%
 Calcium hydroxide = 0.2-0.3% of resin QTY
 Perkadox PF-MT40 = 1% of resin QTY

Mold Preparation:

 Make sure that there is no damage on the mold.

 Clean the mold from any residue.
 Apply mold release agent. Note: While pouring, no vibration or
scraper should be used.
Manufacturing Procedure:

 Mix resin with Calcium hydroxide (Mixing time 5 minutes).

 Add ATH in 2 steps. First add 50% of ATH and mix for 5 minutes. Then add 50% of
ATH and mix for 10 minutes (Total time 15 minutes).
 Add 1% Perkadox, after mixing pour in mold (2 minutes without vacuum and 5
minutes with vacuum).
 Follow the temperature of exotherm (70-80)C. It will take 15-45 minutes to reach
the exothermic temperature.

Experiment

A 1kg sample has been produced with the following quantities:

Raw Material QTY(gr)

ATH 14 310
ATH 75 310
Acrylic Resin 380
Calcium Hydroxide(initiator) 0.95
Perkadox(catalyst) 3.8

De-molding procedure:

 Demolding process must be started when the temperature of solid surface becomes
65 °C during cooling.
 Only special recommended mold release agent must be used for effective use.

Post curing:

 In order to obtain optimum results post curing must be done.

 It is recommended to cure solid surface for 3 hours at 90°C.
 Solid surface must be cooled down at ambient temperature before use.
