Characters:

 Jean Valjean: the outlaw that changed and became the

mayor of a small town

Later in the story he helped cosset through her journey even

he was followed by javert (the police inspector)

 Cosette: fantine’s daughter

 Javert: First was a prison guard, and then a police
inspector,then he followed jean valjean through the story
 Marius Pontmercy: Appears later in the story, he fell in love
with cosset and they got married
 Fantine: cosset mother, the lady that met Félix Tholomyès
the biological father of cosette.

Volume II: Cosette

The novel Starts with Cosette's mother Mrs Fantine, she is one of the
protagonists. She was a young woman that got tricked by young men
and then she got pregnant with Cosette, also one of the protagonists of
the story. After a few months Fantine started to use her saved money
till she got bankrupt. As a result, she tried so hard to find a job but she
got rejected everywhere although she got good skills, because she has
a daughter. So She became dispert and got nothing to do until she met
(Thenardier, Monsieur) a greedy man who owns a pub.
He tricked her that He and his wife are going to take care of Cosette
and get the responsibility. In return She has to give them a small price
of money after she starts to work in the nearby town. She accepted the
deal. after few months He started to increase the price and fool her that
Cosette needs expensive medicine, but that time cosette was in shape
even though she works as a slave to the greedy family moreover, she
isn't well treated. to gain more money Mrs
fantine started to work extra hours and not getting enough time to sleep.
In addition, her health was getting weaker after that she got fired so her
condition got even worse so She sold her hair and teeths to get money
hoping cosette would get better. After three weeks Mrs Fantine got sick
and died. Jean valjean felt responsible for her death therefore Het
started his journey to find cosette to help her because he couldn't save
her mother also the guilt is killing him. in that time javert was a police
inspector that got a lot of claims against the mayor (jean valjean)
claiming that he is the escaped prisoner and started to look for him
trying to capture him then jean valjean finds cosette and rescue her

from the greedy and bad family, They start their journey escaping from
javert. After months they found a church and stayed there a while. and
later in the story cosette fell in love with marius fell in love Then they got
married but Jean Valjean ending was dying from old age and sickness.

Reflection:
In my opinion, nothing can be compared with this masterpiece.
Especially because it is a romance and historical epic with some
politics, I really recommend it but there is no guarantee that you will
enjoy the ending.
