METHODS

AND
STRATEGIES
BY PST Caserial and PST Sandig
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to:
1. Identify the different methods of learning activities
2. Value the importance of methods in learning activities
3. Create a concept map about the methods in learning
activities
MESSAGE RELAY
MECHANICS
1. The learners will be grouped into 5 and each group will sit in 1 row
2. The member at the start or end of each row will be provided with a
paper with a scrambled word
3. When the facilitator tells them to start, the member receiving the
scrambled word will relay the word to the person next to him/her.
4. When the relayed message reaches the end or the last member, he/she
will write the word on the illustration board provided by the facilitator/s.
5. First group to get the most words wins

GOOD JOB
Thank you for your cooperation!
ANALYSIS
1. What kind of strategy did your team use in doing the pre-
activity?
2. As a future educator, why is it important to apply different
strategies and methods in teaching?
3. How important are the methods in learning activities for the
learners?
METHODS OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES
1. Active

2. Cooperative

3. Inquiry & Inductive

ACTIVE LEARNING
These activities involve students doing things
while thinking about what they are doing, with
the goal of developing higher-order thinking skills.
Examples include problem-based learning,
project-based learning, and discovery learning
EXAMPLES OF
ACTIVE LEARNING
Problem Solving
Discussion
Debate
Role Play
Gallery Walk
COOPERATIVE LEARNING
is a subset of active learning activities
where students work in groups of three
or more, rather than alone or in pairs. It
fosters collaboration and teamwork, and
can be used in various forms
EXAMPLES OF
COOPERATIVE
Puzzles
LEARNING
Group-Problem Solving
Group Discussion
Debate
DIFFERENCE OF ACTIVE AND
COOPERATIVE LEARNING
ACTIVE COOPERATIVE
easier to apply require more advance
and take less planning and may take
class time more time to implement
DIFFERENCE OF ACTIVE AND
COOPERATIVE LEARNING
ACTIVE COOPERATIVE
involves methods that engages students of
engage students and different abilities to
help them learn more work together
effectively, in person,
online, or hybrid supporting one another
settings toward a common goal
DIFFERENCE OF ACTIVE AND
COOPERATIVE LEARNING
ACTIVE COOPERATIVE
not all active learning Cooperative learning is
is cooperative always active learning
INQUIRY LEARNING
Inquiry learning is the process of learning by example and
observation, where students induce a general rule, concept,
or principle from a set of observed examples. It encourages
students to actively discover information to support their
investigations and think critically about their learning
INDUCTIVE LEARNING
Inductive learning is a method where students are first
presented with challenges, and then use inductive
methods. These methods can be used in various forms
and combinations to create engaging and effective
learning experiences for students.
EXAMPLES OF
INQUIRY AND INDUCTIVE LEARNING
Formulate questions
Discussion
Explanations
Debate
Brainstorming
SIMILARITIES OF INQUIRY AND
INDUCTIVE LEARNING ACTIVITIES
BOTH INQUIRY LEARNING AND INDUCTIVE LEARNING INVOLVE ACTIVE
ENGAGEMENT BY THE LEARNERS.

BOTH APPROACHES PROMOTE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS.

BOTH INQUIRY AND INDUCTIVE LEARNING ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO

IDENTIFY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS.
DIFFERENCE OF INQUIRY AND
INDUCTIVE LEARNING ACTIVITIES
NQUIRY LEARNING EMPHASIZES THE PROCESS OF ASKING QUESTIONS, SEEKING
INFORMATION, AND MAKING CONNECTIONS, WHILE INDUCTIVE LEARNING FOCUSES
ON DERIVING GENERAL PRINCIPLES FROM SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OR OBSERVATIONS.

INQUIRY LEARNING FOCUSES ON THE PROCESS OF EXPLORATION, WHILE

INDUCTIVE LEARNING AIMS TO DERIVE GENERAL PRINCIPLES FROM SPECIFIC
OBSERVATIONS.

INQUIRY LEARNING IS VERSATILE ACROSS SUBJECTS, WHILE INDUCTIVE

LEARNING IS COMMONLY USED IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TO FORM
GENERALIZATIONS FROM OBSERVATIONS AND DATA.
APPLICATION
Create a concept map of the 3 types of methods
in learning activities; Definition, Example.
