TYPICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR SOIL & GEO-HYDROLOGICAL

INVESTIGATION

SOIL INVESTIGATION SHOULD INCLUDE: –

1) Bore holes –1Nos of 15m depth, if hard rock is met with, min.1m inside the rock below
the foundation level. (Refer layout for borehole location drawing)

2) Undisturbed and disturbed soil samples each to be collected for every 1.5 m depth or for
every change of strata whichever is met earlier.

3) Carrying out SPT or dynamic cone penetration tests as per IS requirement for each
different type of strata met with at an interval of 1.5 m or change of strata whichever is
earlier.

4) Carrying out following laboratory tests on soil samples,

(a) Grain size analysis

1. Dry Sieving / Wet analysis
2. Hydrometer Analysis
(b) Liquid and Plastic limits
(c) Water Content
(d) Field density
(e) Specific gravity
(f) Box shear test
(g) Triaxial compression test
1. Quick
2. Slow
(h) Unconfined compression test
(i) Consolidation test
(j) Rock Quality Designation (RQD) and Core recovery if rock is encountered.
(k) If rock is found at shallow depth, suggest possibility isolated footings with rock
anchoring. Also, share methodology to be adopted for rock anchoring.
