MTL CV TIPS & TRICKS

Let’s make a good impression on the first look!

Of course, everybody wants to show their personality on their CV. You want
to catch your new employers’ attention. But too much might not get you on
the top of the stack. So, let’s review a few simple adjustments before you
head out and create your own “job securing CV”.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. FONTS & SPACES
Make sure your text sizes and different font variations are not mixed up or differ. You can play around and pick your
favorite, just make sure it is easy to read. It will make your resume look like a mismatch if to much is going on.
DO DON’T
Work Experience: Work Experience:

CLUB NAME, CITY, COUNTY CLUB NAME, CITY, COUNTY

Month, Year – Month, Year Month, Year – Month, Year
Position
(short description/ duties/bullet points)
Position
(short description/ duties/bullet points)

2. ALIGNMENT
Pick your alignment and stick to it! If you decide to align your CV with some spacing in between the information.
Make sure you use the correct “key’s”
DO DON’T
Use those two keys to adjust your alignment …………………..
……..
…………..

Sample:
Month, Year – Month, Year CLUB NAME, CITY, COUNTY
Position
(short description/ duties/bullet points)

3. DATES
Check your dates. Europe, USA, Asia, Africa…. make sure everybody gets the correct information. A trick to use:
• Mar, 2021 – Oct, 2021 (for employment dates)
• February 6, 1990 (for your birthday or other dates
Skip the number if you are not sure about the correct order. 04/01/1990 What’s my birthday? April 1, 1990 or
January 4, 1990… in the USA it is MONTH-DAY-YEAR

4. COUNTRIES
Since you are applying international. Why not give everybody a hand, so they understand where the places are, that
you mention. So instead of just troughing an employer name out there “Grand Resort”. Make sure to mention
where it was. “Grand Resort, City, Country”
It is of course a given, that those employer names are spelled correctly - isn’t it? If you misspelt your former
employer, what impression will that give your new employer? Would you be a good fit to represent the company if
you cannot spell their name. Yes “a representative” of your new work place – that’s what you will be!

5. PHONE NUMBERS
So simple. My number is 5614……. wait isn’t your application international? Oh yes. The country codes. Make sure
you can be reached! (772) 294-4587 or how about (USA+1) 772 294-4578 or (SAFR+27) 883 398 1285

6. ORDER
Last job first! If you decide to go the other way, that fine, but as with everything else. Stick to the order and make
sure it is correct.

7. NAME YOUR CV
Please name your document after yourself. That’s just the way it should be!
DO: First name_Last Name_ year or Last Name_First Name_Year or Last Name_First name ..
DON’T: “New”, “Newer”, “Newest”, year only, H2B CV, AHND000DD or anything other than your name.

8. LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT!

Welcome to 2021! Make sure your work experience is up to date! Meaning up to the moth of your application or
better including an estimated date for when your current position will end.
• May, 2021 – estimated Oct, 2021 (for employment dates)
If you had to work from home/ or where on lockdown in the last year, just mention it. We all are in the same boat.
