MPV and Service MTTR
MPV – Monthly Print Volume is the number of images printed per month.
Recommended MPV is 750 and maximum is 4,000.

Service MTTR – Mean Time To Repair – This is the average time required to
replace an individual part in the product. Service parts average MTTR is 15
minutes.

The LaserJet Pro MFP M428, M429 Mean Intervention Between Failure (MIBF)
exceeds engine life.

ESTIMATED/MAXIMUM USAGE
Maximum Usage (Duty Cycle) - a term used broadly to communicate the
robustness of the device. It is the estimated maximum capability of the device.
The LaserJet Pro MFP M428, M429 maximum usage (duty cycle) is 80,000
images

PRODUCT LIFE
Print Engine Life – is the number of pages the device was designed to perform
at a given failure rate. The product will continue to work past this number of
pages; however, service may be required the longer it runs past the rated life.
Actual engine life is dependent on several factors such as usage, environmental
conditions, and proper preventative maintenance.

SERVICE PARTS STRATEGY
The parts strategy is bench repair or on-site repair when region/country
requires. Not all parts are setup for service. If the part is low failing or has a
repair that is longer than 30 minutes, it was not setup and a Whole Unit
Replacement (WUR) should be used for the repair. A WUR is setup as a
service part and consists of a whole device, minus the toner, power cord and
manuals. The WUR part usage is expected to be <5% of the total repair needs
and only used when the failing part is not setup.

INSTALLATION EXPECTATIONS
This product is designed as customer installable, with one individual required to
lift the printer onto a table for all printer models. Additional installation
requirements may vary by region or country.

Environmental specifications – The environmental specifications must be

maintained to ensure the proper operation of the device. Consider the
following points before installing the device:
• Install the device in a well-ventilated, dust-free area.
• Install the device on a level, flat surface that can support its size and
weight. Do not install on carpet or other soft surfaces. Make sure that all
four device feet are level.
• Install the device where temperature and humidity are stable, with no
abrupt changes (away from water sources, humidifiers, air conditioners,
refrigerators, or other major appliances.)
• Install the device away from direct sunlight, areas that experience vibration,
open flames, ammonia fumes, ultrasonic heaters, and devices that emit a
magnetic field. If the device is placed near a window, make sure that the
window has a curtain or blind to block direct sunlight.
