organization in order to maximize performance and achieve the objectives of an organization. In recent
times, the roles of the human resource department has been re-defined to be aligned with the
organizations strategies in order to ensure that the human capital management draws out competitiveness
and top-notch work performance. (Salaman et al., 2005) Policy makers realize that the human capital in
every organization forms a very integral part in the framework of the business and should be treated as an
asset, as such the roles of the human resource became more clearly defined and were able to create
policies in organizations that enabled them manage the workforce more effectively.
There has been a dramatic shift over the years with the evolution of the information age, HR
functions have greatly morphed to include modernized duties in businesses while digitizing some of its
functions. The functions were majorly based on paperwork such as coming up with employee handbooks,
filling of forms, drawing up contracts and dealing with complaints. Due to the advancement of
technology, such functions have been made easier through introduction of various soft wares that make it
easier to create an employee’s database. Industries and companies are also evolving with time thus
making it even more important to make HR functions strategic business partners in organizations, with
the evolution and formation of new companies comes new regulations and employees laws thus in turn
the HR technologies are becoming more specialized in order to meet the current needs in today’s world.
